Day tour to Kiambethu tea farm in Limuru from Nairobi

Description
Just a short drive from the heart of Nairobi, this 6 hour private tour takes you to Kiambethu Farm at Limuru, which provides a tranquil insight into life on a settler farm. Situated at 7,200 ft, Kiambethu was bought and farmed by AB McDonell in 1910. He was the first person to grow, make and sell tea commercially in Kenya - now one of Kenya’s biggest exports, which now you will have a chance to taste. Five generations have lived on the farm and it is currently run by his granddaughter Fiona Vernon.

The Kiambethu visit itself was great and very interesting - I learned a lot! Being invited into Fiona's home was special and the lunch was delicious. (One suggestion in that respect would be to seat solo travellers / couples together with others. As it was we had to re-arrange ourselves so as to meet and chat with other guests). The one less fun aspect was the journey there; the roads are not good and the situation was exacerbated by travelling in a rickety car with poor syspension.
Dear Greta, Thank you for sharing with us a four star rating and positive review on your amazing Day tour to Kiambethu tea farm in Limuru from Nairobi. It is a pleasure to read that the visit itself was great and very interesting - learned a lot. Being invited into Fiona's home was special and the lunch was delicious We are really happy to read that you meet and chart with other guest, we will put your advise into consideration. The roads are under construction making it bumpy. We looks forward to hosting you time after time again. We believe in turning moments to lifetime impressions. Thank you.
I had booked the visit to the tea farm with lunch, which they "were really happy to conduct". The day before they canceled my trip to the tea farm, saying "they tried to make the booking but could not get a space". I made the booking 3 weeks in advance however, so this seems strange. Guess something went wrong on their side. They proposed to go to the coffe farm (without lunch) which I accepted. The guide on the coffee farm was good and enjoyable. I won the competition in guessing the different types of coffee. The driver Stephen was also good, although he arrived at 10am instead of 9.30am, but I guess there was a miscommunication on their side due to change in tour. The coffee tour was good due to the guide there and the driver. But it is of course not the tour I payed for.
Hello Jonas, Hope you are well. Thank you for the review and rating. We apologize with regards to the inconvenience caused during the tour. Unfortunately the tea factory was already fully booked during the booking date, we were waitlisted until the day before the tour date when they confirmed no availability and I informed you. We are glad you enjoyed the coffee farm tour and guide. In case we can support future reservations please feel free to let us know. Kind regards Nelly
