Itinerary

60 min

Visit the unique German battery protecting the coast between Omaha and Gold Beach. Only bunkers left that have all original guns in place.

60 min

Arromanches is famous for the artificial harbour Mulberry B that the allies developed there in June 44 to have the possibility to bring supplies into Normandy. An incredible feat of engineering, of which remains can still be seen.

90 min

The British Memorial at Ver sur Mer honors all British soldiers who sacrificed their life in Normandy in 1944. Overlooking Gold Beach, it is an amazing contribution to what D-Day and the Battle of Normandy in 1944 opened the way to the liberation of Europe and the end of World War II. British armed forces played a central role in these momentous events, and more than 22,000 made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. The Normandy Memorial Trust was created in 2016.

90 min

Pegasus Bridge was the first bridge to be liberated in 1944, in the night of 5 and 6 June, as part of the Pegasus Bridge operation, also known as Operation Deadstick. It was carried out by British parachutists and led to the libe-ration of Caen. Speed was of the essence, as well as preserving the element of surprise. The strategy paid off! An identical replica has been made of the bridge immortalised in Daryl Zanuck's film "The Longest Day" in 1961. You can see the original bridge in the Pegasus Memorial Park.

60 min

Ranville was the first village to be liberated in France when the bridge over the Caen Canal was captured intact in the early hours of 6 June by troops of the 6th Airborne Division, who were landed nearby by parachute and glider. Many of the division's casualties are buried in Ranville War Cemetery and the adjoining churchyard. The CEMETERY contains 2,236 Commonwealth burials of the Second World War, 90 of them unidentified. There are also 323 German graves and a few burials of other nationalities. The CHURCHYARD contains 47 Commonwealth burials, one of which is unidentified, and one German grave.

60 min

The easternmost of the D-Day Beaches, Sword Beach is the code name given to the beaches at Colleville-Montgomery and Ouistreham Riva-Bella for the operations on D-Day. This is the only beach where French forces, 177 marine fusiliers led by Commandant Kieffer, landed on 6 June 1944. They liberated part of Riva Bella. The English took charge of the eastern part of the beach, as well as the port and town sectors of Ouistreham.

The Grand Bunker of the former Command and Fire Direction Post has been completely renovated in order to house a Museum entirely dedicated to the Atlantic Wall in Normandy. After having belonged to the French Navy, the founders wanted this unique blockhouse to regain its original appearance. A remarkable construction, since it is a Sonderkonstruktion, all the rooms were refurbished in a remarkable way, with very abundant and authentic material. The founders took full advantage of this 17-meter high construction to put into context and present the essential functions that characterized the life of the defensive positions of the Atlantic Wall facing the D-Day landings.

Normandy Tours--Matt Key

MATT KEY of Gold Beach Company was outstanding tour guide of the Normandy Beaches, cemeteries and important sites/stops in between. Thorough, knowledgeable and solely dedicated to this one venue. He highlighted the trip by pulling up/website our various relatives that served, pertinent details, etc. It was a great full day, you will thoroughly enjoy and benefit w/ Matt.

Operator response

That's very good to hear but this is not us, although I am certain that our tour would have been equally good. You may want to credit the right company.
