Description
Naples is at once a sophisticated ancient metropolis littered with monuments of art and architecture, a city dramatically perched between Mount Vesuvius and the sea, a place of palaces, the hometown of pizza. But unlike many other Italian cities with such a formidable legacy, Naples is not an open-air museum. Shopkeepers, bakers, olive sorters, home cooks, vendors and the last traditional sign painter of the market are all part of the warm community we’ll be welcomed into. On this walk within and without the city walls, we’ll spend the day experiencing the everyday food traditions served up with the superlative hospitality that is the hallmark of the Neapolitano.

Chiari our tour guide was incredible. So informed and passionate about her city....she helped us understand the history and culture and importance of the skills of small business artisans often from 3rd generation families. She was interested in us as individuals and tailored our tour to meet our needs. It helped that we had her all to ourselves. She was an absolute delight. Professional and so many interesting stories and She had a great sense of humour. We really connected with her. We travel a lot and have done lots of small group tours...she was the best EVER!!

Sonia truly led us through the backstreets of Naples. She talked about the history of the area and the history of the food. We had wine paired with the food and met the owners of decades old shops. This was our second Culinary Backstreets experience and they did not disappoint. Highly recommend this food tour.

We had an incredible time with Marina. She showed us tons of amazing food. We had already been in Napoli for a few days and we hadn’t tried any of what she showed us on our own.
