Itinerary
We’ll pick you up at your Ho Chi Minh City hotel in the early morning, and you’ll travel with your English-speaking guide to the Cu Chi tunnels. The drive is around 60 km. At Cu Chi, you’ll be shown a documentary film about the tunnels and learn how the locals made bamboo traps, rice paper, and rice wine. You’ll then have the opportunity to explore the web of underground tunnels dug by Vietnamese resistance fighters.
After exploring the tunnels, we’ll drive to My Tho. This is one of the provinces that comprise the Mekong Delta area. We’ll cruise by boat along the upper Mekong through a region with islands named after 4 animals that appear in Buddhist writings – Dragon, Unicorn, Phoenix, and Turtle. On this part of the tour, you’ll observe some of the activities of regional Vietnamese daily life and appreciate how life here depends on the River. We’ll then take you on a trip by rowboat along the small waterways. You’ll see the agricultural richness of the delta region in its fruit orchards, coconut groves, and bee-keeping farms. We’ll stop so you can enjoy honey tea, seasonal fruit, fresh coconut candy, and southern Vietnamese folk music. We had a fantastic day with our amazing tour guide Matthew. He was very passionate and knowledgeable about both the Tunnels and Mekong Delta.
Thach Max was a great tour guide, very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the subject matter. Always smiling and energetic. He takes a great photo too! I fully recommend his tour. The lunch we had was really enjoyable too, very high quality for the price. The van was a little uncomfortable I should have gone for the 9 seater in hindsight.
Great day very informative and how these guys managed in these tunnels was unbelievable. Fantastic Max the tour guide was so educational on the Vietnam war and Vietnam in general well worth the money apart from the shooting you can do at the tunnels cost as much for ten bullets than the whole tour but it’s up to you 👍
An excellent tour with a fabulous guide Max. We heard and learned so much about the tunnels and the history of this country. The trip to the Mekong deltas was a contrast to the tunnels & again enjoyable. Its a long day with 2 hrs travel between locations but well worth it. Thank you Max for a great day and sharing your knowledge.
A very fulfilling and interesting day. Our experience commenced with a punctual pick up from our hotel and a journey first to a lacquer ware studio where the works are produced by handicapped people who are victims of Agent Orange. The works are of very high standard and many in our group were tempted to purchase them. From there we headed to the Cu Chi Tunnels, where our excellent guide Max truly set the tone for the day. Knowledgeable, sympathetic and wonderfully friendly, Max brought Vietnam's history to life with depth and passion, sharing detailed facts about the extent, history and varied use of the tunnels across the war years. His warm personality fostered a great group dynamic from the very start. A highlight not to be underestimated was the opportunity to crawl through the tunnels yourself. It is a dense, claustrophobic experience that makes the hardship and human endurance of that era feel viscerally real in a way that words alone simply cannot convey. Lunch was served at a restaurant right at the Cu Chi site and was absolutely delicious, with all dietary requirements catered for. The relaxed setting over a shared meal sparked interesting conversations within the group — a natural and enjoyable extension of the morning's experience. All entry fees and expenses were included in the one fee, which made everything feel effortlessly well organised. Then came the long drive to the Mekong Delta — and what a reward it was. A boat crossing brought us to a typical organic farm where we were welcomed by genuinely lovely people and treated to a traditional dance performance that was both charming and memorable. The farm offered a fascinating glimpse into local production, with chocolate made entirely by hand in the most non-industrial way imaginable, a wonderful variety of coconut products, and the rather adventurous rice wine with snake — not for the faint-hearted, but certainly an experience. We then continued to see the manufacturing of coconut sweets of great variety and flavour before boarding small row boats for a peaceful journey along the river, surrounded by water coconut trees. The Mekong Delta boat trip was simply wonderful. Back across the Mekong to our bus, which transported us quickly and safely back to our accommodation. It was a long day — from 7.10 am to around 5.30 pm — but every hour was filled with something meaningful, beautiful or thought-provoking. A great and truly interesting experience, all round. Can just recommend it!
I’m very grateful to our guide, Tony, for making this experience so special. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a meaningful and well-organized journey. Thank you, Tony, for this wonderful trip.
We had an incredible day with Tony (Tue) as our tour guide! He took us to the Cu Chi Tunnels, where we learned so much about Vietnam’s history and even had the chance to explore parts of the tunnel system ourselves. Tony explained everything clearly, answered all our questions, and kept the experience engaging and meaningful. After that, we headed down to the Mekong Delta, which was such a beautiful and relaxing contrast to the morning. We enjoyed a peaceful rowing boat ride with local villagers, surrounded by lush greenery and calm waterways — it felt authentic and unforgettable. The food was absolutely delicious, and the whole day was filled with laughter, good conversation, and great memories with friends. Tony truly made the experience special. He was knowledgeable, friendly, organized, and made sure we were comfortable and having a great time from start to finish. Highly recommend him to anyone visiting Ho Chi Minh City!

The driver and the guide are very nice, nice and confortable car. The cu chi tunnels is very nice, very interesting, but after the tour, the lunch is there, at 11 in the morning. It was not nice. The Mekong delta tour is a complete tourist trap, terrible.
