Travelers will first meet the team at the designated meeting point in Cozumel to complete check in before the selected departure time. Once the group is ready, the crew will guide everyone a few steps to the pier where the boat will be waiting. This first moment is simple and practical, helping travelers get organized before the marine route begins.
Begin your adventure at Palancar Reef, known for its vibrant coral formations and diverse marine life. Dive into the crystal-clear waters and explore the colorful coral gardens, home to a variety of fish, sea turtles, and other marine creatures. The day my tour was scheduled I left Playa del Carmen on the 8am ferry, as it would be the only one that would allow me to be at the meeting point at the scheduled time. However, already on the ferry, I received a message from the company saying that the departure had to be changed at noon, because, according to them, the navy did not allow the ships to leave due to the strong waves. However, when I arrived in Cozumel I saw normal movement in the companies that are located outside the port and decided to ask one of them, who sold exactly the same itinerary, if there was authorization to leave, as the company stated that there would be no authorization until noon.To my astonishment I was informed that at no time that day was there such a prohibition, that everyone normally left heading west, for palacar, columbia, the sky and the sky. I contacted the company, which then refused to allow the cancellation and refund the money. He continued to insist that the change was made thanks to the navy. I had to get viator brokering to get my money back. I even managed to find a website that said that despite the forecast of heavy rain and large waves for the region, ALL boats could sail freely. So very careful with this company. I do not recommend it in any way. Also, this company is not based there and if you Google it you will not find a physical location.
First of all, the price shown is not full, you need to pay an extra of 700 MXN per person before boarding. We disembarked the cruise ship, took a taxi to the meeting point, $10, easy trip, no hassle. It took quite some time to locate the counter, although the lady was responsive texting and calling me. Then the lady paid a taxi to take us to another port, which was heading back to the cruise and a little bit farther in the opposite direction. Meeting at the port maybe more convenient, as the office is super easy to spot here. We paid extra charge and got onboard the small ship. The ship went to another location to pick up other guests, and seems they were charged differently, two of them paid 500 MXN at the end of the tour. The ocean was absolutely stunning, but it was very windy. We stopped three spots to see fish, turtles and sea stars. Pretty deep water and strong waves, you need to be a good swimmer to snorkeling. My 6-year old daughter was totally scared in the water. There was only one float available for more than 10 people. 10-15 minutes stay per spot. Only my husband can enjoy the snorkeling, it's not family friendly, especially for family with little kids. The final stop was shallow water, my girls could stand in and enjoy some chips, that was the highlight of the day, but it took too long, I thought the snorkeling part should be longer. Our guide was nice, but he spoke Spanish most of the time. When we were back to the office, they gave us 150 MXN to take a taxi back to the cruise. No problem overall, but all felt fishy in some ways.
