Description

Most visitors see Coyoacán during the day. Your tasting tour shows you what it becomes at night: a busy network of street vendors, grills, and small local spots that define how Mexico City eats in the evening. With 12+ tastings across multiple stops, you’ll move through the neighbourhood sampling the foods locals turn to from freshly cooked street tacos and masa-based dishes to slower, richer preparations like mole tamales and suadero. The setting matters just as much as the food. Coyoacán has a different rhythm from the rest of the city, and in the evening it feels more local, more social, and more connected to everyday life. Walking through it with our knowledgeable tastemaker guides gives context to both the dishes and the neighbourhood, from cooking techniques to the stories behind the vendors. Join the small group food tour (limited to just 8 guests) to discover what the real Mexico City food scene is all about.

Itinerary

30 min

Your Mexico City food tour offers guests a culinary experience carefully curated food adventure, led by our team of Mexico City tastemakers. Before we get started, our tour reflects the local cuisine, and the limitations of street food vendors and local eateries mean we cannot cater for every dietary restriction. Here's an honest appraisal for the tour, so no-one is disappointed: ✘ Unsuitable for vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian and halal diets, and severe allergies as the number of tastings would be very limited. ✔ No pork diets, no seafood diets, gluten intolerance, mild tree nut and peanut allergies are possible though some tastings do not have alternatives available and the menu would be more limited

180 min

Explore Coyoacán, one of Mexico City’s most characterful districts. As evening falls, the area shifts into a lively mix of street vendors and small eateries. Over four hours, you’ll move between a series of carefully curated stops, eating where locals eat. You’ll start with bold, flavourful street dishes like chistorra sausage, tinga de jamaica, and crispy fish tacos, before continuing through a wide range of local favourites. Along the way, expect sopes, tamales filled with rich mole, roasted esquites, and gorditas stuffed with suadero.
A highlight of the evening is tacos al pastor, carved fresh from the trompo, a defining dish of Mexico City. There are drinks throughout too, expect café de olla, horchata, seasonal atole, and pulque, offering a full picture of how locals eat and drink in the evening.
Between tastings, your guide will share insight into the neighbourhood, the dishes, and the traditions behind them, giving context to what you’re eating and where you are.

Great introduction to Mexican food

I took this tour with my boyfriend and a friend, we had a great time in Coyoacan. This is my first time in Mexico and it was the best introduction to Mexican food. I particularly liked the food from the street stalls, I would have never thought of going there by myself. The selection of drinks was good too, the cafe a la olla was my favourite. Coyoacan is a very nice area of the city, I’m glad the tour was there cause otherwise I would’ve probably missed that. Thank you Monica!

Come Hungry!

Monica did an excellent job of guiding us through the tour. Along with the food portion of it, she also explained parts of Coyoacan's history. which was very neat. the food was excellent as well.

Great food tour in Mexico City

The tour was great! It was really nice to see a different part of the city. The food stalls were so cool and the quality of the food was great. I will be recommending this to all my friends.

All round good experience.

I did two food tours in CDMX and this one was definitely the better one. Great food in a beautiful area. Monica is a wonderful guide, it felt like being shown the city by a friend.
