It was an amazing experience ! The tour was very interesting. An activity to do again and again for every visit to Kenya. Do not forget to buy some coffee on your way out! They are delicious!
The trip to the coffee farm went smoothly and learned a lot about the processing of coffee beans. Also, the driver was wonderful and on time for the trip.
Our driver was friendly and safe. Not by his fault, we arrived after the tour had already started. The guide at the farm did not acknowledge us when we joined the group. And then she made unnecessary, disparaging comments about us being American, not being able to roll our 'r's, and being left handed - none of which had anything to do with a coffee farm and felt random and unwelcoming. What she shared about the coffee bean growing process was interesting, but I would have liked to know more. The coffee tasting was structured like a "test" - could we tell which beans belonged to which cup of coffee? The flavors were delicious. Guests should know that it is important and expected that guests stay for the coffee in the garden at the end of the tour.
Dear Libby, Thank you for sharing your experience at the coffee farm. We are trully sorry that you felt unwelcome at the coffee farm. Its unfortunate the guide at the farm made this statements and we have made this clear with them that it was unfounded and uncalled for. Rest assured this will not happen again. However according to her it was on a light and friendly note and NOT at all intentional or meant to be disrespectful to you! She apologises and expresses her regrets for making you feel that way. On the matter of 'r's the coffelier was explaning 'ruiru 11' a trype of coffee of the different varieties found in our region. Its only fair if this was unclear, you would have seeked clarification to get a clear picture of the matter. The coffelier had started with introductions before your arrival, hence where is likely the mismatch started. Its unfortunate the coffee testing process at the liquering lab which is interactive, educational felt like a 'test' to you yet its supposed to be a learning, appreciative, process. Its not a 'test' rather an engaging process where one actually perticipates effectively to understand coffee better. Part of the of the tour includes sharing a cup of coffee at the garden at pleasure. Nothing wrong with that. That said receive our regard and we hope to see you again for even a better experience. Once again receive our sincere apologies for this misunderstanding. We thank you.
I went with Kelvin from Rustic Nature Tours out to visit an amazing coffee plantation near Nairobi. It was hard to believe such a beautiful place exists so close to the bustling city. Kelvin arrived right on time and was extremely friendly and helpful. When we got to the plantation, a wonderful guide took the group through the grounds. She explained how everything works in an entertaining and informative way. We took quite a long walk through the "coffee bushes", a banana and avocado grove, then to the processing facility where we met some of the workers sorting and managing the beans. After we had a yummy tasting of different roasts and just enjoyed sitting the garden. Lovely - would highly recommend.
Dear Nicholus, Thank you for your gracious review. We are happy you had a fanstastic experience with us once again and still did another tour with us! This shows our passions and dedication in what we do. A true picture of rustic nature tours. We look foward to our next trip with passion and professionalism. We look foward to our planned safari in September. Welcome again! Thank and see you soon
We asked many questions and learned so much. It was fun to hear about the process from grafting, to berry harvest, to drying, to dehusking, and then shipping out to buyers who roast it. It was fabulous to start the tour having coffee served in the style of our choice, and learn before touring the field. Also fun to see bananas and mangoes growing. Would take others here again. The final part of the tour, taste testing between two, was also fun. We bought 7 bags of coffee between us !

We had a great time at the coffee farm this afternoon. We were picked up by Denish who was prompt. He was very knowledgeable and very safe driver.
This was a really nice way to spend a morning! Our driver even got to the hotel early! Was nice to be out of the city for a little breathe some fresh air. Definitely recommend!

The coffee plantation visited on this tour is Fairview Estate Limited. It is a large farm with many other farms besides this base. Even on such a large farm, most of the process is done by hand. It was very interesting to see what the process was like before you could drink it as coffee. The tour Guides are very kind, knowledgeable and smiling. I had a very good time.
