Syntagma is the central square of Athens. The square is named after the Constitution that Otto, the first King of Greece, was obliged to grant after a popular and military uprising on 3 September 1843. It is located in front of the 19th century Old Royal Palace, housing the Greek Parliament since 1934. Syntagma Square is the most important square of modern Athens from both a historical and social point of view, at the heart of commercial activity and Greek politics.
The Central Market (also called Varvakios Agora) is located between Monastiraki and Omonoia Square and is a must see if you like to explore the Greek culture and food The structure was built at the end of the 19th century and is open daily from early in the morning till late.The traditional food market in center of Athens, fresh fish, meet and vegetables full of local taste , colors and smell
Evripidou Street, full of secret treasures and distinctive scents that come from the mix of foods and spices wafting from the open-fronted stores, closely linked to the Greek culinary tradition. Evripidou Street runs through an area of central Athens where clocks and calendars seem to stand still, where different races and cultures mix with old Athens.

- We are doing our tours only to small groups with a maximum capacity of 10 people.
- Some of the markets and vendors that we visit close after lunchtime, so the walk can only occur in the morning
- Please advise in advance if vegetarian options are required. The tour is vegetarian-friendly as vegetarians have options in every spot. However, there are limited choices for other dietary restrictions such as gluten-free or dairy-free. Severe allergies cannot, unfortunately, be catered for on this tour.
- There will be plenty of food on the tour, so you only need a light breakfast
- In an effort to ensure that you will avoid any kind of discomfort and most importantly that you will feel comfortable, our guides may change order of the sites you may visit.

We enjoyed our walking tour with Tassos. Interesting stories loved the hole in the wall places be took us and got to feel the vibe of being a local in a place I’d never been! I’m still full ! Great Greek pastries, olives and gyros ! Plus recipes for later !

This was a superb tour! Our guide, Tassos was so funny, knowledgeable and kind. The pace was perfect and we chatted all the way around. The food was delicious and plentiful with us tasting things and seeing streets and markets we’d never have ventured into or tried. This has been a wonderful four hours! Highly recommend

Tassos, our guide for the day, is extraordinary; he took the time to tell us the history of the city of Athens and took us on a journey through culinary history in an exceptional conviviality. Tassos was fantastic! He did a great job explaining the places, history, and the food. The value was also great, the food portions were much larger than other food tours we have done and we left the tour with bags of fruit, nuts, and olives. Would highly recommend!
