Hopeless - buses too infrequent - drivers take breaks with bus full in 36 degree heat. Unacceptable!

Sold on 20 minute frequency - a bad joke in 36 degree Celsius heat. When bus showed at heroes square we got on and the driver got off. Turned off the engine and left us in the absolutely stifling heat. Total rubbish service do not waste your money on this charlatan service.

Safe your money. You're better off walking!

You're Better Off Walking! The tour was supposed to start at St. Stephen's Basilica (Stop No. 1). When we arrived, about 20 people were already waiting in line. By the time the bus finally showed up, the queue had grown to nearly 100 people—even though buses were advertised to run every 15 minutes. We ended up waiting 45 minutes for a bus, only to discover that it was already packed to the brim. To make matters worse, the conductor started boarding passengers from the back of the line first. Unsurprisingly, the crowd protested loudly. It was perfectly obvious where the queue began, yet the staff either ignored it or simply didn't care. The staff's attitude was appalling. Instead of helping customers or organizing the boarding process, they shouted at people, used offensive language, and even insulted some of the passengers. It was one of the rudest customer service experiences I've ever had. The ride itself felt like being on the Knight Bus from Harry Potter—except far less enjoyable. The bus was clearly old and heavily worn, and so were the seats. Unless you're the size of a small child, you'll struggle to sit comfortably without your knees being crushed against the seat in front of you. The driver seemed to think they were competing in a Formula 1 race. The bus accelerated aggressively, braked just as abruptly, and took corners at an uncomfortable speed. Passengers who couldn't find a seat had to cling to whatever they could just to avoid being thrown around. To top it all off, about half of the audio jacks didn't work. Even when they did (and you were so lucky to pick headphones at the entrance), the commentary rarely matched our location because the bus was moving far too fast. Save your money. This tour is a complete rip-off. You're far better off exploring Budapest on foot.

Very bad tourist buses.

Among the pleasant aspects of visiting Budapest, it was the worst experience: tardiness, buses without A/C that were very hot, crowded with standing passengers, a useless audio guide, a guide with no knowledge whatsoever, and an impertinent driver. We got off two stops after boarding due to the intolerable nature of the journey. It is better to create your own itinerary with the places to visit and do it with another tour or independently.

Negative experience in Budapest

On June 22, 2026, we undertook a sightseeing tour through Budapest with City Sightseeing. Our group consisted of 8 people in total. The starting point was at the dock of the river cruise ships. Upon boarding the already well-filled bus, we received the necessary headphones and were informed that there were only seats available on the upper deck, which was closed. We sat on the left side in the direction of travel. All connections for the headphones were marked with an X on the small display. Even after plugging in the headphones, this display did not disappear, and selecting the corresponding language was not possible. When inquiring with the accompanying person, they made an unsuccessful attempt and simply left us sitting there. A tour without information is certainly not worth the price. Back at our starting point, we were referred to the agency office, which was not possible due to our onward travel. Unfortunately, not a pleasant memory of Budapest. As a tip: If this occurs with other guests as well, change the bus at the next stop and hold the accompanying person more accountable.

Be careful in summer…

The route was fine, but the service in summer was terrible; we could not enjoy it as we were suffocating from the heat. They should install air conditioners; we pay enough not to take advantage of it.

Not very organised

We had 48hr tour ticket with free boat ride. The buses are full and sometimes we were unable to have a seat. We started at stop 1 - St Stephens basilica but everyone had to get off at stop 9 St Heroes square to change buses which was very manic as everyone was trying to change buses quickly and get a seat on the other bus. This city sightseeing tour should be relaxed and pleasant trip around Budapest but it appeared chaotic with the change of buses. We were given 2 different maps which stated differently which caused us to miss our stop and walk a long way to the sightseeing attraction. This city seeing bus tour needs to be reviewed.

DO NOT USE THE HOP ON HOP OFF BUS!

It sounds good that the buses stop every 15 minutes. What they fail to mention is that once they are full they won’t take anymore passengers. You could end up standing at a bus stop for hours. Save your money and time. Use BOLT.

My review

So far so good I’m very impressed and learnt a lot. You should add the path things for the disabled people.
