A lovely evening with good food, attentive service and a really enjoyable band. The trip was timed so that we saw the Statue of Liberty lights being switched on, which was an excellent touch. I think that we went on a quieter night than usual (Monday), just because one half of the boat was empty and not every table was filled in our half. I would recommend dressing smartly (jacket for gentlemen, evening dress for ladies) - you won't stand out for being overdressed and smart attire really contributed to a nice atmosphere. Just be aware that this isn't a tour (i.e. nobody explaining the sights you're seeing) but a cruise (a special night out). There is an open deck at either end of the boat where you can get fresh air, see the sights even better than from the table, and take nice photos. Drinks, cocktails, etc. are extra cost and there are some food upgrades available on the night too. The band really made the night. Would highly recommend to people visiting New York.
The boat and the cruise was fabulous. Food was delicious. Service lacked in several places. First we were served four of six appetizers. The other two came about 10 minutes later after we questioned the server. One chowder was served without a spoon. Secondly bar service was terrible. Had to keep chasing down our waiter. Would have given four stars
Wonderful staff, talented musicians, great views and really good food.
Net net, the boat is really nice, the food is just ok, the band is way to loud, and the whole experience is over priced. My family and I booked a dinner cruise for a birthday. When I made the booking, I was shocked at how the costs added up so fast. We selected a guaranteed window table. But aside from that, we did not select any other special options. City Cruises also has a mystery $115.31 "Admin Fees" charge. See the picture of the bill attached to this review. With drinks the day of, we wound up spending $829.23 for three people ($276.41 per person). For that amount of money we were hoping for a great experience. The boat is certainly nice with very unique floor to ceiling windows. The rest is not so great. The food is at best average. The band is so loud you have to shout to talk to your dinner companions. This was shocking to me. For all the supposed elegance that is projected by the pictures, City Cruises operates the dinner cruise like a cheap party boat. My feeling is if you are willing to spring for an almost $300 a plate meal, you are better off at a good quality NYC restaurant.
It was an extraordinary experience. The food and service were good.
What a beautiful evening we spent on this sunset cruise. The food was great, but even better was the service given to us by Sean! Not only top notch but made us feel extra special!!
Booking was easy and crew was welcoming. Everyone had a smile and every single guess was greeted as if he or she was the only that mattered. Food and entertainment were excellent.
Food was below average. Was given moldy bread, the wrong plate. Waitress was nice but not very attentive. I’m sure she was busy. The views of the city made the experience. The music was good. The staff was nice. The photographer was the best who made me feel special. Would I do it again? No. I got great pictures and saw great views. But the food needs much improvement.
Absolutely fabulous. Couldn’t fault it. Staff were great, especially Thomas, very informative on where we were and what we were passing. Singer-brilliant. Food and service very good
Well organized, excellent food and service, entertainment was great. Good music and talented singer who interacted well with the dinners. Beautiful tour.
