Really cool tour, long day! The time spent in each town was appropriate. The value is more that it’s chartered transportation, with the guide calling out some highlights in each place. Probably better to do a full day in Cinque Terre to enjoy the beach, but this is great if short on time and you’re more interested in casual touristing. We were in Pisa for a short time, but it was all that’s needed. Reservations need to be made really early or days in advance; because we went at the end of our day all you could really do was take pictures around the main square.
This tour had 63 people for one guide (Teresa). She struggled to keep up with everyone. We should have spent more time in one of the Cinque Terre villages and less time in Pisa. There was one part about train tickets that she made very confusing.
This was a family day trip from Florence to two towns of the Cinque Terre (Vernazza and Monterosso) with a side trip to Pisa on the way back. You got to spend about 1.5 hours in each town and Pisa. Was it sufficient time to see everything? Obviously not. Was it enough time? With a 13 and 8 year old in tow, yes. I’ve hiked the 5 villages of the Cinque Terre in 1 day, and it’s way too much. I think trying to fit in any more towns in the same day would also be too much. This tour is a great taste of an incredible place (the Cinque Terre) and let everyone know that we should come back and spend more time there. Plus, I realized that an hour and a half of Pisa is also probably enough, with no need to go back. Our tour guide, Sara, was knowledgeable and sweet, while not bombarding us with trivia. The trip leaves at 7 am from near the train station, which means getting there at 6:40 am, which also means a very early wake up. But I’m glad we did it. The bus that took us to La Spezia and then to Pisa and back to Florence was well air conditioned and very comfortable, and the driver, JohnCarlo, was excellent. All in all, 5 stars.
Booked this day trip to maximize sites we saw from Florence. Directions to the meeting point were clear, it was a 6:40 am arrival but thankfully there was a food truck selling quite tasty croissants and coffee. After we received our sticker, we met up with our tour guide Sara and driver Giancarlo. We boarded a frigid luxury coach, but it felt great during this Italian heat wave. Sara spoke excellent English and provided an outline for our day, 1 hour into the trip we stopped at a rest area for snacks and bathrooms- good pistachio croissant and pan au chocolate. From there it was another hour till we arrived at La Spezia. We followed Sara to the train and all 44 of us boarded in a group, she provided clear directions and shouted when it was time to disembark. Our first stop was Vernazza, she walked us through the whole town in all of 5 minutes, then gave us nearly 90 minutes to explore. The town is absolutely stunning! Ate focaccia bread with pesto sauce and it was delicious. She clearly advised us what time to return to the train, and the group thankfully followed time to a T. From there it was 1 stop till Monterosso. Another picturesque beach town, word of advice can bring swimwear to change into if you want to dip into the Ligurian sea. After nearly 2 hours here, we boarded the train as a group, meeting at the proper time and track as instructed by Sara hours prior, and then off to La Spezia. After disembarking we boarded our chilled coach, and drove 1 hour to Pisa. We each paid 6 euros/head to take a tram to the historic site, could have walked the 20 minutes but the 95 degree temp was oppressive. Pisa is a small site, really just the tower, and church. Kids were hungry so grabbed McDonald’s outside the tower walls, and took a bunch of lame photos holding the tower. Overall I really enjoyed the tour. It was well organized, directions were very clear, and we had enough time to sample these sites. The heat was bad, but can’t control Mother Nature. Would definitely book with Sara and Giancarlo again! P.S. maybe a handout of sites to see, foods to try, or locations of bathrooms could be helpful for future tour groups.
Sara was an amazingly informative tour guide who showed our family everything we could’ve possibly wanted to see in Italy. Jean-Carlo was an efficient and safe driver whose calm demeanor never failed to put me at ease.
Sara and John Carlo were a fabulous team, Sara on the mic (in 3 languages + Italian) and John Carlo behind the wheel and in charge of the A/C. The trip was entertaining, informative and all the sights were so worth it! I especially liked the length of time at each location, anything less than 2 hrs at each site is not enough! Thank you both for a fantastic day!
The tour was great! Sara and Gian Carlo made the day amazing. Gian Carlo got us to and from all of our stops quickly and safely. Sara was an amazing guides, she is very funny, easy to talk with, and very knowledgeable about the regions we explored. The cities in Cinque Terre were very beautiful and different from the countryside. The time spent at each location was perfect and the recommendations from Sara really helped make our trip even better.
Thank you for a very well-organised tour. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. One small suggestion for future tours would be to provide each guest with a bottle of cold water when boarding the bus, especially considering the current heat in Italy. I believe it would be a thoughtful touch and greatly appreciated. Thank you again for a wonderful day!
Excellent tour!! Saw two beautiful villlages in cinque terre and the leaning tower of pisa all in one day! Tour was well organized and executed, giving us exactly what we needed to get the most out of all the stops. Giancarlo and Sara did a terrific job!!
Sara with no H is absolutely fantastic. She’s approachable, knowledgeable, and has a great sense of humour. And shout out to our driver Jean-Carlo for making sure we got from point to point in a safe and efficient manner
