The carriage ride lacked enthusiasm by our driver. The driver was nice enough, but he obviously was going thru the script and was on his phone more than engaging with us-- other than at the designated stops. The Park is beautiful and it would have been more enjoyable with an enthusiastic/engaging driver. If he's bored with the job, he should move on.
We enjoyed seeing Central Park by horse-drawn carriage, especially just after the rain. The park was beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing, and our driver did communicate with us when the weather caused him to run a little late, which we appreciated. That said, there were a few disappointments. After arriving at the pickup area, we discovered that several nearly identical carriage tours nearby were significantly less expensive than the one we booked through Viator—approximately $60–80 less for what appeared to be the same experience. I would recommend comparing prices before booking. The driver pointed out a few landmarks, but the narration was fairly minimal and lacked the engaging personality we had hoped for. In addition, our ride ended about 10 minutes earlier than the scheduled time, so we didn’t receive the full experience we had paid for. Overall, the carriage ride itself is a lovely way to experience Central Park, but I wouldn’t necessarily recommend booking this particular tour through Viator due to the higher price and average overall experience.
Lovely ride around Central Park. Our driver was very knowledgeable and pointed out all the landmarks.
Great ride and the driver was very informative. This made the experience even more exciting. I would do it again on my next trip to NYC.
Great way to see the perimeter of Central Park in a comfortable setting. Our guide was friendly and so was our horse! Included a couple of stops for photo ops and some carrots to feed at the end. Did not take the full allotted time. It is a little pricey for what we actually got for just 2 people. Would be more worthwhile if you have group of 4.
Very pleasant ride with a top-notch guide, very gentle horse, superb weather, comfortable carriage, carrots to feed the horse.
Matt was great. Very informative. Fun feeding Grace carrots. Matt made a few stops and took photos of us.
We didn’t get to do this trip as it was canceled due to the extreme hot weather however the provider was great and communicated with us and offered a few alternatives but we had other plans
The ride itself was lovely but the driver was recently from Ukraine and spoke very little English. He tried his best and through mime and some key words we realised what the main sights were. It was very hard to find the starting point from the directions provided.
Matt, our driver, texted with us so we knew where to meet him. We did the longer ride so there was time to stop at several places and take pictures. Got to feed our horse Strawberry some carrots. Learned she was a former thoroughbred racing horse. Matt was knowledgeable about the park and its history. We enjoyed the experience and it's a great way to see the park.
