Our tour through Langa was absolutely incredible, and that is entirely thanks to our guide, Ox. We felt safe the entire time because Ox seems to know nearly every single person on the street! The tour gave us a very authentic, multi-faceted look at the area. It was fascinating to see the stark contrasts within the township itself, walking past totally impoverished areas, middle-class homes, and high-class buildings. We were even invited into the locals' houses and accommodations to talk with them directly. Our first stop was a deeply moving gospel worship service at the Methodist church. Later, we met a local multi-talented artist (@chillzeverything) and learned about his work. The locals were incredibly friendly and welcoming everywhere we went.. they even let me drink from their shared umqombothi (traditional beer) bucket! While some of the living conditions were eye-opening and a bit jarring to my European eyes, this raw, honest, and warm look at the community was definitely the highlight of my trip. Highly recommended!

Travelers should know this tour is not for fun - but to learn - how history of colonialism and racism has brought suffering for these people- they should be humble and respectful towards this community

I had a wonderful guided tour of Langa Township with Ox, a very authentic guide. It was a great mix of township culture, community, history, and everyday life. Plus, you can support the township residents financially by buying their art. Keep up the great work!

The tour through Langa was a real highlight! Our guide Mzu has brought the history and culture of the township to life with much knowledge, humor and passion. The encounters with the local people and the authentic insights into daily life were particularly impressive. Everything was superbly organized and left a lasting impression – you get what you see - absolutely recommended!

We had a great visit with Imzu. The visit was very interesting (community center, mass with gospel and visit to the township), we learned a lot about the history of the country and life in the township. Moreover, Imzu is very friendly.

Grateful to Mzu who allowed us to live a unique experience in Langa township - with thanks also to Ox who picked us up in Cape Town. In Langa, we met great artists at the community center; had a tasty coffee at a coffee stand; tried the delicious food made in the smallest kitchen in a container, and had a chat with the barbers next door, speaking multiple languages - see attached pictures for more details. Moving around the informal settlements under pouring rain, we witnessed first hand what it means for a family to live in a container divided in two, with just 3 square meter for a family to sleep, eat and live, with no running water. It was a truly unique experience for us, but this is the daily life in Langa township in full contrast to the rich and securitised area in nearby Cape Town. Apartheid is no longer but inequalities and other forms of segregation remain. In this dire reality, Mzu and the people of Langa we met are a testimony of dignity, courage and entrepreneurship. We strongly recommend this tour, and we hope to spend more time in Langa next time.

Me and my partner booked on this tour and it was an extremely eye opening and very informative tour. Ox our tour guide was very knowledgeable and showed us different areas of the township and able to experience some of the township food and drink. This is a must do for anyone visiting Cape Town.

Great tour! The church service was amazing and walking around Langa we learned a lot and felt very safe. The people were welcoming and we had opportunities to support the community in a few different ways. Highly recommended if you want to see something other than the tourist sights!
