From the pickup to getting to Aquila (2 hour drive) our driver was a pleasant professional The Tour with Nicholas on the reserve was no short of funny and informative he delivered the information in a fun way. We got to see 4 out of the big 5! We saw the other amazing animals up close. Totally worth it. The only issue we had was the 2 hour wait time to be picked up. By our driver seems to be a standard but no one from the group had booked any activity so there was no need for the wait.
This was a fun filled day! The ride to the safari was filled with beautiful scenery and I really enjoyed it. Once we arrived for the safari, breakfast was served. It was an okay breakfast. Once the tour began, my tour guide did everything possible to spot the animals for us to view. His commentary only enhanced the tour, for me. It was really chilly and raining and he provided blankets for us to use, which was a life saver. What didn't I like about this tour? Unbeknownst to me, there was the option to book horseback riding or ATV riding, in addition to the safari. Two members of the group I was with, booked ATV riding after the safari. We had to sit around the lodge an additional two hours while waiting for them to finish. It was very annoying watching other tours leave while I just sat in the dining area until they finished cleaning up. I was very unhappy about that, as it had been a long day and we still had a long drive back to Cape Town. What helped was that the driver (I can't remember his name) took me and two other guests to across the highway to the sanctuary where we were able to see a 1-year-old lion, and two older lions. I really enjoyed that. The ride back to Cape Town was as scenic and beautiful as it was going. Overall, this was a good tour.
Amazing experience! The theory of “Rescue, Rehab, Release” appeals to me and seeing the animals up close is so much fun! Our guide was great. Saw 4 of the Big 5 (no leopard) and so many others. Would recommend! Food offerings are delicious and plentiful.
I found few animals, and the ones I saw were sleeping, the afternoon I thought we would go out for new excursions and then the worst part was only there when I was informed that we would spend the rest of the afternoon doing absolutely nothing, the safari didn't send a schedule of what we were going to do , we spent the afternoon sitting in the restaurant. I definitely won't repeat the trip.
Dear Maria Thank you for bringing your experience to our attention. We sincerely apologize for any disappointment you may have encountered during your recent safari excursion. We understand your frustration with the limited sightings of animals during your visit. Please know that while we strive to provide our guests with memorable wildlife encounters, the behavior and whereabouts of wild animals are beyond our control. The team at Aquila Private Game Reserve endeavors to create an experience aligned with the natural rhythms of the wildlife in their habitat. Regarding your concern about the lack of a detailed schedule for the day, we would like to clarify that the product description on Viator includes a comprehensive overview of what can be expected during the excursion, including the possibility of downtime between activities. However, we acknowledge that we could have emphasized the schedule more clearly, and we will take steps to address this for future guests. Your feedback is invaluable to us as we continuously strive to enhance our guests' experiences. We regret that your expectations were not fully met on this occasion. We truly value your patronage and hope you will consider giving us another opportunity to exceed your expectations in the future. If you have any further concerns or would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please do not hesitate to reach out to us directly. Thank you for your understanding and we hope to welcome you back for another Cape Town experience/day tour. Warm regards Ferial Dreyer-Williams
Great day doing Safari at Aquila Game reserve. Saw the big 5 Safari animals Giraffe, antelope, zebra ,lion , elephant, and Rhino. Welcome drinks, buffet breakfast and lunch. Excellent guide who know the wildlife natural history well. Highly recommended for 1 day tour from Capetown.
A thoroughly enjoyable one day safari trip. The guide was knowledgeable and very engaging. We seen 4 out of the big five and the guide got us to close to the animals where possible. Lots of time for pictures and sightings. Worth a visit!
Had an absolutely fantastic time at Aquila - it was a tremendous trip and we were blown away. The only bit that wasn't brilliant, was the booking process via TripAdvisor! We couldn't choose our hotel to be picked up from from the drop down list - so we had lots of messages back and forth from the tour operators - resulting in a message confirmation of the trip, but nothing 'official' as we couldn't have 'tickets' as we had missing information. However, the day itself was tremendous and the animals and place magic. Thoroughly recommend.
The whole process was comfortable and safe. The experience was one of a lifetime. The Big Five wild animals were amazing.
Safari was nice. I saw three of the big 5. Guide was entertaining. However, too much time hanging around game reseve after.
Trevor was an amazing guide. Hilarious and informative. Request him if you can! The animals were an unforgettable sight.
