We purchased the 3days pass. Just to find out that a number of attractions where closet for maintenance or shut down for good. When we contacted city pass their answer was that they are intermediary only and they cant assist. Strange answer for a touristic company. Never again
Dear Hannes, Thank you for your review. Some attractions do close temporarily for maintenance, weather or operational reasons. These decisions are made by the independent operators, not SA City Pass. As clearly stated in our Terms & Conditions, availability can change without notice and the Pass acts as an intermediary. The Pass is designed with a wide range of attractions to ensure guests still receive value and flexibility. We appreciate your feedback and will continue working with our partners to improve communication. Kind regards, SA City Pass Team
Buying a 5 day City Pass showed me most of Cape Town and gained me entry to Table Mountain, museums and other attractions, saving money and time buying tickets and waiting in line. To me buying a pass is a no-brainer. I opted for five days because I didn't want to rush over limited time.
Hello cjejr2. We really appreciate your feedback and agree with you 100% that the Pass is a must as it offers such great value and top experiences. City Pass Team
We normally don’t do these tours any more, but this felt a good option for our one day in Cape Town, we covered 2 of the 3 routes, commentary was good, and more importantly we got to view a lot of this city, which we really enjoyed. The buses run very frequently and there is normally a staff member at each stop
We normally don't use this type of service when we travel but decided to ty it in Cape Town and we were glad we did. We did three different tours with the Hop On Hop Off buse in Cape Town. One day we did the red line and another we did the blue line, both take you through some of the same, and some different, parts of town. It costs around $20 per person for the entire day and you could do both lines on the same day for one price if you like, we chose to do it two different days. The buses are clean and well maintained and they provide earphones for a very informative recorded guide. We also took a tour to Stellenbosch and three wineries in the area. We had wine tastings at each of the wineries with some small snacks, the last one was a wine testing with chocolate, the chocolates were better than the wine, overall a great experience. We also had lunch at one of the wineries, not included in the price of the tour, and visited the very nice town of Stellenbosch on foot. Our tour guide "King" Charles was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Overall, I would recommend doing these tours to get acquainted with the city and its surroundings and spend time off the bus visiting some of the locations where they stop.
Really good service buses every 20 minutes and about 90 minutes for the whole tour of the city non stop. Takes in all the best sites including Camp Bay and surrounding coast line and beaches. Great to hop off, walk along a great promenade and hop back on to the next stop. 575 rand, about £26 pppday. No public buses so we could use it to get back to the hotel as well.
This is definitely the way to go! If I go back to Cape Town, I will use the Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Transport service. I used them in Cape Town and Johannesburg. The audio was perfect, the staff were great, the information was superb, the environment and ride was wonderful. The lady driving the bus went above and beyond for us and provided us great information as we ended up being the last people on the bus. I LOVED using this tour. The price and value is great!! The only small issue is that because I could not find my original receipt from the Cape Town tour, they would not give me the 15% discount for the Johannesburg tour. I had my electronic receipt and even my original paper receipt. I just did not have the receipt I turned in for the boarding receipt. I believe they should allow the 15% off in that case.
The Hop On Hop Off bus transport including the Cape Town city pass is by far the best way to tour/see all of the best must visit places/attractions in and around Cape Town. Once you purchase the city pass, you will be provided with a booklet of all of the attractions that you can choose from for the entire day. I think that the city pass is totally worth it!
This was such a good experience, reliable service and friendly staff that got us everywhere we wanted to be. We probably didn't get full value out of ticket as we were very tired after an overnight flight so didn't do the sunset cruise as planned on Day one but we thoroughly enjoyed everything we did, especially the purple wine bus route. A great way to see the city in a short time.
Excellent value on the 5 day pass - around £90 including 5 days HOHO (blue, red and purple wine bus), frequent, 20 mins most, and often more on the areas where blue and red converge, and not full (although bear in mind it is Autumn now). 80 attractions, although you won't do them all (or want to do them all) and you would have to be really on it to get the full value. Best for us was Groot Constantia, table mountain, sunset tour, sunset cruise, we also availed of the free lunches which were great. Bear in mind that the loops are quite large (over 2 hours for the blue, over an hour for the red). Good recorded commentary in multiple languages. Staff lovely and helpful, loos in the main office in V & A. In 5 days the equivalent would have cost us over £200. Helpful booklet. We bought ours in advance and downloaded and printed, only to find that only the best scanners could cope with the paper copy, but we had a phone copy of the barcodes, and this worked fine. Safe place to see things.
This was a god send and a great way to.see the city. Just a shame that the bus only goes one way round. We were lucky that our hotel wad just a couple of minutes walk from one of the stops. The guy on at the cape wheel couldn't get our passes to scan, so went on a bit of a wild goose chase to see what the problem was, but they were scanning and working fine everywhere else. I was also surprised to find they didn't gain entry to the botanical garden, so our visit here was an extra expense. We visited a lot of sights and as we had the premium pass went on the shark dive too (though we had to pay extra for the transportation). While it's definitely a worthwhile expense it could be made better by having the buses run both directions and have them run a little later into the evening. All of the bus drivers were brilliant very friendly and helpful as were the staff in the Information offices.
