Great road trip to the southernmost tip in Africa!

The tour allows solo booking, which is a huge plus for solo travellers and rare in tours to Cape Agulhas. I was the only one scheduled for the day, but they still honored the tour and definitely delivered what they promised! James was very helpful, accommodating, and insightful, and I learned a lot about the history, culture, and life in South Africa. We stopped at Cape Agulhas, Hermanus, and a few other stops along the way for sightseeing or breaks when needed. Great road trip to the southernmost tip in Africa!

Kick These Guys Off Viator!!!

Terrible experience! They cancelled my tour the night before. Admittedly they tried to help me and connected me with another operator who then never arrived after confirming via text they would handle. Being in a city for a limited time you count on these Viator trips to arrive on time and on the day you book them. To leave us hanging like they did is inexcusable. Do not use this company. Absolutely terrible experience.

Operator response

I’m so sorry this happened to you. Reading your review honestly made my stomach drop. You were counting on us during your short time here, and we cancelled your tour the night before. That’s because our guide got moved to another tour and we failed to find you a good replacement in time. I hate that we then sent you to a backup operator who promised to show up and didn’t. That’s awful and it’s completely on us. You deserved better. A full refund has already been sent to you, but I know that doesn’t give you back the day you lost. We’re taking a hard look at how we schedule our guides and who we trust as partners, because no one should go through what you did. If you’re open to it, I’d really appreciate a chance to talk this through with you. You can reach me directly at info@onceinafricatravel.com Thank you for being honest with us. We owe you better. Best Cape Agulas Tour for solo travelers

Most tour companies for an excursion this far require double booking for solo, but not this one. I ended up being the only person scheduled as well for when I went and rather than cancelling the tour on me, they still honored it and took me along for the whole time without shortcuts. James was my tour guide and he was fantastic. We had great banter and I learned a lot about not only the history, but about different cultures and life in SA. Don't hesitate to do this one, it's a must especially if you're here by yourself.

Lots of cars

Lack of security: I was attacked by a baboon while the driver made us get out of the car in a parking lot where baboons were present, and the driver, himself scared, was not helpful towards me!

Operator response

Cordialement, Dan

Great trip to the most southern point of Africa

Amazing tour by James, I can fully recommend it! We went the quick route to the cape, had all the time we needed to look around and take pictures, then took the scenic route back including a lunch stop in Hermanus. James commentary along the way and his great photo stops made the trip exceptional. It was very touching to be at Africa's most southern point where the oceans meet.

Highly Recommend Once in Africa Travel for this Experience

I highly recommend going with Once in Africa Travel if you want to travel to see Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of Africa, from Cape Town. I had booked with another company months ago, but they cancelled on me at the last minute. It was very disappointing as this was something I always wanted to do. Once in Africa Travel came to the rescue and allowed me to book the night before, and they did not cancel on me, being a solo traveler. My driver & guide was James. He shared a wealth of information during the journey. We took different routes there and back, so you not only get to see Cape Agulhas, but also lots of beautiful and interesting places during the journey. Thank you Once in Africa Travel and James for an unforgettable experience.

Great tour of the southern most tip of Africa.

We had a great experience with our tour guide James. He picked us up promptly from our VRBO in Cape Town for our tour of the southern most tip of Africa and back to Cape Town along the coast. Great photo stops along the way and his recommendation for a lunch spot was perfect!

To the end of the African continent

James has been a super guide, he introduced me to the history and the culture of South Africa which makes the journey even more interesting. We started early in the morning and we drove approximately 3 hours to reach Cape Agulhas, passing by hills, mountains and breathtaking sea views. The journey by itself is already astonishing for the views. Cape Agulhas is literally in the middle of nowhere at the end of the African Continent and maybe this is the beauty of it, it’s somehow a mystic place, where the two Oceans meet. Don’t expect to find anything particular, the most interesting part is its location and the idea of being at the end of the World! On the way back we visited Hermanus and Betty’s Bay, we didn’t spot any whale but the colony of African penguins was actually great. The way back was again beautiful for the scenery. Definitely a superb journey which I would do again! Thanks a lot James for everything.
