Camel ride in the desert of Agafay
Description
If you can only save half a day to experience a long camel ride at sunset in the Marrakech desert, this is the opportunity to seize while being in town. This experience takes place in the Agafay desert, just a 45-minute drive southeast of Marrakech. Agafay is a stony desert with a splendid view of hills resembling sand dunes, which will allow you to enjoy a spectacular view at sunset while sipping a cup of mint tea.

Meet your driver at your hotel/riad and start your day trip southwest of Marrakech across olive and orange farms to Agafay desert. Upon arrival, meet your camel caravan, and get dressed like a nomad in a blue robe and a headscarf. After taking some photos with the new outfit, and getting introduced to your camel, start an hour camel ride across the amazing landscapes of the arid terrain. The views of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains in the horizon is splendid. Just in time for sunset, make your way to a high plateau where you will enjoy a cup of mint tea while watching the color-changing sunsets on the horizon. Just before it gets dark, join your driver back to Marrakech for a drop off at your hotel/riad, or a location of your choice in the city center.

Short stop for argan oil demonstration/sales. I went was picked up at 9:00 from the Medina and was returned at 12 noon, after camel ride, pictures and tea. Good opportunity for pictures in the desert. The driver and camel guide didn’t speak much English however you really don’t need much. Everything went smoothly. A nice break from shopping in the Medina.
