Our tour guide Attila was very nice and attentive. He was very patient and gave us a good background on Budapest as well as the palace. The only issue was that the description was not clear that our tour didn't include a horse show which Attila mentioned doesn't happen until April. Thought it was lot to pay to ride in an older van.
The Sissi Palace in Gödöllő offers a graceful glimpse into Hungary’s imperial past. It is favorite retreat of Empress Elisabeth (Sissi), one of Hungary’s most-revered royalty (think Princess Di). The palace enchants visitors with its elegant Baroque architecture, lush gardens, and richly restored interiors. Walking through its halls evokes the quiet grandeur of the Austro-Hungarian era, while exhibitions reveal Sissi’s personal connection to Hungary. Just a 40-minute drive from Budapest, it’s a serene and culturally rich destination perfect for history lovers and royal romantics alike.
The Sissi Palace was beautiful and our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable regarding all aspects of the palace. The Puszta tour option is not to be missed. The horsemen were very talented and the show was very entertaining. We were able to tour the stables and see the horses and other animals up close. A small museum is on the premises that talks about the world-champion carriage drivers, the Lázár brothers.
