Budapest Roman Heritage Sites Aquincum Private Tour

Tibbie is an excellent guide. Fun, personable, knowledgeable and reliable. He was recommended by the Acquincum Museum Director so we felt confident in his qualifications, but our tour exceeded our expectations. We agreed on an hourly rate and were able to tailor the tour to our interests. The scope of the ancient city became personally obvious as we walked from the military coliseum (with a larger field than its Roman counterpart), to the largest Roman bath, ( maybe second now given recent discoveries) to the incredible Hercules Villa and finally the Acquincum Museum itself. By the end we were tired! But Tibbie took us to a wonderful restaurant for lunch recommendations and then rode with us to our transit stop. We had a nice chat the next day when we saw him again at the Fishermen’s Bastion! We felt the tour was reasonably priced (comparable with the museums rates), but the friendship was free!

Tiberius transported us back to the Roman era. Through his extensive knowledge about the Romans, he brought the past back to life for us in Aquincum in Budapest. If you are looking for a guide for Aquincum, then Tiberius is exactly the right one.

Tiberiu was extremely flexible in setting up the tour and acommodating me even though my request was on short notice. I saw everything I expected and then some. Not only was he very konwledgeable about the Ancient Rome and its history in Hungary, on top of that hes very nice, well spoken in german and english, and loves to share about the topics he knows about - even beyond the scope of the tour, so i came away with a few more ideas on what else to do in my time in Budapest. Will for sure reach out if I am around again!

Tiberius was a great tour guide. He was very knowledgeable about the subject, clearly excited and enthusiastic about the tour. This tour is a must for anyone interested in Roman history. That said, there is a fair amount of walking. I logged 6K so wear comfortable shoes and clothes.

We took a tour of Aquincum with Tiberiu Condulescu and thoroughly enjoyed his pace and enthusiasm. The tour lasted just over two hours with a start in the excellent museum and then a tour of the extensive excavated sites. I would not have understood the details of the site without his expert guidance.

It was really nice to visit different parts of the city and learn about the Roman history that’s tied to Hungary. I looked at a lot of reviews for tours like this one, and many people said they could’ve just done it on their own. That’s fair and you can look at a place and guess what it might’ve been or how it was used. You can visit the museum and look at things and just “see”. But I think this tour was great for people who want a bit more. It wasn’t just “this is a bathhouse” or “that’s a villa.” It gave some background on how people lived back then and why certain buildings were built the way they were. If you enjoy history and like understanding the stories behind things, it adds a lot.

Tibi is a local, experienced guide who is informative, pleasant and a good driver. He took us to numerous sites that I wouldn't have found, and knew history and political background of various historical sites. We enjoyed ourselves immensely.

This was an amazing tour. Different and memorable. TIBERIU CONDULESCU, the tour guide takes pride in the way he conducts the tour. He helps with the plan, finds out about your interests, reds and potential restrictions. Tiberius responds almost immediately with answers to questions Really flexible. Take the tours and there won’t be any regrets! Highly recommend Tiberiu.

We had a group tour of over 4 hours and it was worth it every minute. Learned a lot about Budapest and its history. The suggestions of the guide (lunch restaurant, ruin bars) were spot on!
