An absolute highlight of our time in Bologna. Eleni and I did the food tour on our first afternoon in Bologna, and it completely set the tone for the trip. Our guide, Eleni,was warm, kind, and genuinely knowledgeable, weaving the history of the city into every stop rather than just pointing us at food. We wound through the market and tucked-away spots we’d never have found on our own — proper mortadella, Parmigiano-Reggiano aged to perfection, traditional balsamic, fresh tortellini and tagliatelle al ragù made the way it’s meant to be, all washed down with a glass of Lambrusco. We finished on gelato, of course. What I appreciated most was the pace: enough time to actually taste and chat, never rushed. You leave full, a little tipsy, and having learned something. Perfect for anyone who wants to understand Bologna through its food. Highly recommend — book it early in your stay so everything else has a benchmark to live up to.
