Description

A four-hour exploration by bike of central Bogotá, during which we'll visit the historical center, La Candelaria, a traditional fruit market, a coffee factory, street art, and hopefully a game of tejo, Colombia's national sport. We'll also pass by landmarks such as city parks, the Plaza de Toros, Museo Nacional, and experience the economic and arquitectural diversity of different neighborhoods. Part-way through the tour, we'll stop in the Parque Nacional to sample fruit salads, juices, barbacued meats, corn-on-the-cob and other traditional Colombian street foods. The route, of about 12 kilometers, is mostly flat, and the tour is casual, with frequent stops.

Great Bike Tours of the Candelaria Area

My spouse and I did the bike tour with Mike and Manuel. We saw many parts of Bogota - both members of Bogota Bike Tours were professional and supportive during the whole ride. They stopped at a variety of historic places and a couple local businesses. Mike did great in sharing history and culture with us. Manuel really worked hard during this bike ride as two people, one being my spouse, got a flat tire. He was quick to fix the flat within minutes and we were back on the road. Manuel was also great with helping control traffic where needed and staying at the back of the group to ensure everyone stayed together. I would definitely recommend this group if you want a nice day to see the Candelaria area.

Rude, Arrogant guide! Do not use them!

Extremely rude, arrogant tour guide (Lina, or Lena?)at Baja Bikes. I asked her to speak a little louder and she shot back, “Maybe you could a little closer,” in an arrogant tone. I overlooked it because I wanted to have a good time. But the she started asking guests private questions such as, “Are any of you religious,” and “Is anybody here baptized? The she made comments that show her political preferences about my own country’s leaders which were extremely controversial and taking political sides. At this point, I had to stop her and tell her that I did not come here to be asked private questions in here your personal political picks, and that this has nothing to do with the history of Bogota. She told me, “Well, maybe this isn’t the right bicycle tour for you!” to make it worse she then asked my friend in Spanish so that I would not understand it, “Who did you vote for in this presidential election?” I didn’t know it until after the bicycle tour because my friend did not want to see me more upset. She has an arrogant abusive attitude, and I cannot feel more strongly in telling you to steer clear of this particular person and that also goes for the business who allows her to remain employed. Sadly, she is allowed to so poorly represent the Colombian culture.

Super bike tour with super guide through bustling Bogota

It was a very nice bike ride with a very good guide. Daniel. Nice overview of the various neighborhoods of Bogota. Interspersed with stories about history, current life in Bogota and many facts of all kinds. The visit to the coffee roaster and the fruit market really added something. The bike ride itself is doable for everyone.

Excellent day out!

Such a good day out, I feel like we seen so much of Bogota which you don’t necessarily get to on a walking tour. Our guide was knowledgeable, and told us lots about the history of the area and the significance of the buildings and architecture. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Colombia, highly recommend!

All bogota visitors should start here!

We're a family of 4 adults and 3 kids (10, 11, 12 yrs old) and we learned about this bike tour through friends that did it last year and loved it. I was a bit sceptical of touring a big coty like bogota with kids but in the end I felt safer here than in my home town Milan! It was an amazing ecperience, we saw a different side if bogota that we didn't imagine. Our guide Luis Carlos is very passionate about his city and told us about all aspects of life here. We loved the fruit market and the coffee roastery. Even if Bogota is a winding city the level of fitness required is relatively low. A big thanks also for kind James and his help with the bikes. Wonderful experience that I would suggest to everyone visiting bogota, especially on the first day!

Fat experience

Really cool experience where we got to see large parts of Bogotá. In fact positively surprised by how professional it was and how welcoming our guide Mike was. It was clear to see how he liked the work and had control of things. All in all a really good experience, which can definitely be recommended;).

5 hours of value cycling around Bogota

Don’t often write reviews, but wanted to say gracias to Mike and Manuel for the cycling tour. We covered a lot of ground, but with lots of stops and only the occasional drama (as comes when cycling on Bogota roads). Mike kept the group engaged and spoke to individuals too. Somewhat surprisingly, I think the visit to the fruit market was perhaps the highlight- never tasted so many different fruits Would highly recommend to tourists and locals alike. Excellent value for money.
