Itinerary
Our first stop is at the impressive Corinth canal as your driver describes its many interesting ill-fated and varied History’s from Ancient times to the present. The Corinth Canal connects the Gulf of Corinth in the Ionian Sea with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. It cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland, arguably making the peninsula an island. The canal was dug through the isthmus at sea level and has no locks. It is 6.4 kilometres (4 mi) in length and only 21.4 metres (70 ft) wide at its base, making it impassable for many modern ships. From high up, you can enjoy the best view of Corinth's isthmus and admire the steep limestone walls while you observe the vessels below you navigate their way through the canal
Arrive at Kechrees, the eastern port of Corinth, where the Apostle Paul disembarked during his first visit to the city around 51 A.D. It was also from here that he later set sail for Ephesus, entrusting his letter to the Romans to a prominent Christian woman named Phoebe, a deaconess of the local church.
The presence of the Apostle Paul in the Isthmian region is considered very important and the reference made in the Bible about his presence at the Isthmian games was very important because it is the first official presence of a Christian at the games. The apostle Pavkos worked at the Isthmian games as a tent maker for the accommodation of athletes and visitors to the Isthmian games, which were the second most important games after the Olympic games in Ancient Olympia. The apostle Paul proclaimed the son of Christ in the eyes of the visitors and athletes of the games.
Archaic marble pediment dated to the end of the 7th BC. h. and was placed at the entrance of the first Temple of Poseidon. Glazing of Kechreon. They arrived packed in twos on a ship from Alexandria, Egypt and were found submerged on the floor of the Temple of Isis on the south pier of the harbor.
Here, you can visit the Archaeological site and the museum of Ancient Corinth, one of the most important cities in Ancient Greece. Here, you have one hour to explore Apollo temple, the temple to Octavia, the baths, the Bema where St. Paul addressed the Corinthians, the Peirine fountain complex, the theatre, the Roman Odeum... Inside the archaeological site you can visit also the museum with exhibits from the area.
The Temple of Apollo at Corinth was constructed in 550 BC.
The Archaeological Museum of Ancient Corinth was constructed between 1931-1932, with intentions to display the numerous recent archaeological excavations. The museum is located within the archaeological site of Ancient Corinth, Greece, and lies under the jurisdiction of the 37th Ephoreia of the Greek Archaeological Service. A lot of stops in corinth, not a lot of biblical content. Mostly a transportation service and no commentary.
Thank you for your feedback. Your comments are valuable and will help us improve the experience for future guests.
Theodore was more than my husband, Ken, and I could have asked or imagined as a tour guide! His knowledge of Biblical history, cheerfulness, cultural insights, and heart for his clients, as he called us, made us experience the apostle Paul and his Corinth ministry in an amazing and satisfying personal way. He followed the Golden Rule and treated us as we would want to be treated. Not only does Viator need more tour guides like Theodore, the world needs. more human beings like him. My husband and I were truly blessed! Thank you, Theo, for the sensational day!
Thank you so much for your heartfelt and thoughtful review. We are truly delighted to hear that Theodore made your experience so meaningful and memorable. Ancient Corinth honestly surprised me. I was there for a business trip, and I’m not usually the type to get excited about historical sites, but this one hit differently. Walking through the ruins with the Temple of Apollo standing tall in the background was something else. After exploring, we stopped at a small taverna nearby for lunch, and the food was unreal—fresh, full of flavor, and exactly what I needed after a long morning. Even if you’re not into history, this place is 100% worth visiting.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re truly delighted to hear that Ancient Corinth surprised you in such a positive way. The presence of the Temple of Apollo and the unique atmosphere of the site have a special way of connecting with visitors — even those who don’t usually consider themselves history enthusiasts. We’re also happy you enjoyed the local taverna experience. Authentic Greek flavors after a morning of exploration are always the perfect combination! It was a pleasure having you with us during your business trip, and we hope to welcome you back for another memorable experience in Greece — perhaps with even more time to explore.
