Do yourself a favor and skip the massive cruise line buses. This private/small group tour gives you a completely personalized, deluxe experience. We saw so much more, moved faster, and felt like VIPs all day.
Carmine was an excellent guide. He was a wealth of knowledge as a guide, and as a local, was able to recommend some nice places to eat. He and our driver (I wish I could remember his name) accommodated timing so that we wouldn’t have to skip Castelmola due to traffic from a couple of accidents early on. He really wanted us to be able to see the beautiful towns of Castelmola and Taormina. He added a couple extra stops within Taormina to show us a sample of an amphitheater as well as a church that had Greek Temple ruins. Both places were so quaint. We got some free time in both places. There was an additional cost to the Roman Theater, and we would have loved to have Carmine join us to guide us through that as well! :)
We saw beautiful architecture, landscapes and natural beauty. Our guide Elizabetta picked us up on time and provided us with details of each area we visited. Taormina is absolutely beautiful. She made a lunch reservation for us at a restaurant overlooking Mount Etna with stunning views and the food was delicious. This tour is unforgettable and Elizabetta made it possible.
Low effort day, high reward experience. Everything was easy, smooth, and honestly just really enjoyable. Taormina impressed me, but Castelmola surprised me more.
Not gonna lie, I booked this thinking “just another tour”… but it turned out to be one of my favorite days in Sicily. Taormina was giving main character energy, and Castelmola was that peaceful escape you didn’t know you needed
The drive up to Taormina was beautiful with views of the sea and Mount Etna along the way. Once we arrived, the town felt magical, narrow streets, small boutiques, and stunning viewpoints everywhere. Castelmola was quieter but the views from the top were incredible. It honestly felt like one of the most scenic places we visited during our entire Mediterranean cruise.
You must try the Sicilian Cannoli in Taormina! Our guide showed us a great bakery. Castelmola is a very charming village with a famous 'Almond Wine.' The tour was comfortable, the van was cool (good AC), and we felt like VIPs. A wonderful experience from Messina port.
A well-organized excursion with two distinct stops. Taormina is lively and easy to explore, and Castelmola is smaller and more relaxed. Transportation between locations was smooth and efficient.
Our guide knew a quiet little 'Cicchetti' bar away from the main square. Having a local snack and a spritz by the canal was better than the actual sightseeing! The transfer back to Ravenna was very smooth.
The views kept the children interested, even though I wasn't sure how they would react to this tour. Taormina had plenty of room to explore and eat in Catelmola, which felt like a tiny village from storybook. A long day, but doable.
