Berlin: Private Bike Tour of the Berlin Wall and Third Reich

Description
From the “Führerbunker” to the Berlin Wall – On the Trail of a Divided City. Start your tour in Nikolaiviertel, five minutes from the TV Tower. Choose your bike and set off on a 15-kilometer journey filled with fascinating facts and little-known stories about Nazi-era and Cold War sites. Follow the traces of the 20th century to landmarks like the Berlin Wall Memorial on Bernauer Straße, original East German watchtowers, and the areas planned for the Nazis’ unrealized dream city, “Germania.” Your guide leads you through hidden corners, quiet streets, and scenic paths, bringing history vividly to life. Experience what life was like in the once-divided city. Discover why Hitler’s bunker (“Führerbunker”) is no longer accessible and explore the former Berlin Wall’s route, including ghost stations and underground bunkers. Would you like a private tour? Itinerary
Our starting point is also the only "real" old town of Berlin. But how old is it actually, especially having a war with rain of bombs in mind?
Listen to the story of civil courage, in which a police officer saved this marvelous building in the night of broken glass.
Here you can find a memorial for the victims of deportation and the Holocaust, designed in GDR times and in harsh contrast to the more well known memorial close to Brandenburg Gate.
There are three spots, where the Wall is "still alive" - this is the only part, where you can really understand and expirience what the Wall meant and did to Berlin. Edutainment at it's best.
Today commonly known for it's Sunday's flea market, this place shows the incessant attempts of East-Germany's rulers to establish "the perfect border".
Once a giant fortress and air-raid-shelter, it offers a fantastic panoramic view and insights into Nazi-architecture
This original tower got preserved to remember Günter Litfin, the first person who got shot at The Wall.
Cut in the middle by The Wall, this burial place was made for the "heroes" of German military history. Some of them are rather important to be remembered than honored though...
From here you have the perfect overview over the governing district of Germany with all it has to offer. Not only what you see is interesting though, but here we also discuss the plans of Hitler's architect Albert Speer and his vision to build the Great Hall, which would have had enough room to fit 180.000 people.
Here we stop to discuss Hitler's grab of power and Germany's democratic history. We do not have time to go inside but can get the best of it from the outside.
One of three memorials for the three biggest victim groups of the holocaust.
One of the three memorials for the three biggest groups of victims during the Holocaust.
This biggest genocide memorial in the world, created by the ones responsible for the killing. It's size and importance to history are incredible.
The place where Hitler hid during the last weeks of war and eventually committed suicide. All you can see today, is a parking lot. We explain why.
**Only in the english Version of the tour.** The most famous border station of the cold war, since it was the only shared one between the USA and USSR. Because of that, there was a point in time when the third world war almost started right here in the heart of Berlin.

Our guide Robert made the tour a great and varied trip through Berlin and showed some surprising places. He made the day a great experience for our whole family (including 2 children 8+12). Thanks, Robert!
Best decision me and my wife ever did. The tour is not to missed. Yes you can go to different historical sites but not have a clue what it is. The bike tour just gave us more insight and depth about the history of Berlin. Particularly, Carl (our accidental guide) is a LEGEND! This bloke deserves a raise of bar, clearly explained all details about the trip And some of his personal opinion that made the tour even more interesting. He let the his group get involved including asking some questions and including names of the group who were in it (that includes me). Carl, good luck in your future endeavours and I know you will be a fabulous historian in university soon.
An excellent tour. An extremely insightful guide and we saw and learnt so much that we wouldn’t have if we did not do this tour. Would definitely recommend
Really enjoyable tour. The guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. We saw sights we would never have found on our own.
A fact filled tour throughout Berlin. Our guide was a great storyteller and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this tour.
The tour was excellent. We were able to get around quickly on the bikes. It would have taken twice as long to see all the attraction on foot. The guide was very knowledgeable and his English was very clear and understandable.
Thanks for leaving a review! That's exactly the appeal of a biking tour, and we're glad to hear you enjoyed it!
Vincent gave us a brilliant tour of historical sites and a commentary to match. We had a heavy deluge of a thunderstorm and took shelter in a lovely bakery. He gave a family based account of his history and how this shaped society with the building of the wall. He was patient answering all of our questions and explaining some of the misconceptions around post war Germany. Bikes were comfy, helmets provided and great value for money to see so many of the landmarks in Berlin.
Hey, thanks for the review! It's so nice to hear we were able to provide you with a great experience, even if the weather got capricious. Hope the rest of your stay in Berlin is just as fun!
Julia explained the process and the modalities well beforehand and managed prudently and confidently throughout. You wouldn't find the ways alone. She has a pleasant voice, which was also heard very well further away. The tour was informative and we enjoyed it a lot. I recommend it!!!
Great way to see lots of the city and learn about its history. Chris was very knowledgeable and gave us all the confidence to cycle safely in a foreign city whilst having fun and learning too.
We are 8 friends that went on a private tour ”The Wall and Third Reich ”. We had a great time and Carl was a perfect guide! Such a nice guy, who shared so much knowledge and interesting storys with us and was very committed. It also felt safe all the time despite the traffic in some places. Some of us have been on bike tours before in several cities, and this was the best tour and guide so far!!
Hi, thanks a lot for the kind words! We're happy to hear you had a great time with us. Hope to have a chance to welcome you for another tour sometime in the future :)
