Upon arriving at Badaling, our car will take you straight to the first parking which is very close to the cable car entrance—no wandering, no waiting. The best part? Badaling is one of the most famous and well-preserved Great Wall sections, with a history dating back to the Northern Qi Dynasty and major Ming Dynasty renovations. Once a key military stronghold, it now boasts iconic watchtowers and sweeping mountain views, showcasing ancient Chinese engineering at its finest. We’ll stay here for 2 hours—plenty of time to walk the wall, snap photos, and soak in this world-famous landmark, with your guide on hand to share key stories along the way.
After lunch at a local Chinese eatery, you’ll head to Longqing Gorge (30-minute drive). On arrival, follow your guide to the remarkable Dragon Elevator—Asia’s longest (258m long, 90m high), a Guinness-recognized engineering marvel. I took this tour on my very first day in China with Aurora and our wonderful driver. Aurora was a fantastic guide - she was knowledgeable, kind, and made sure the day went smoothly! I had the best time and would recommend to anyone interested in seeing a little bit more of the nature outside of Beijing.
It was an amazing trip from start to finish. Our tour guide Lucy did an amazing job teaching us about the history behind everything we saw and Beijing as well, and she was very friendly to talk to about personal lives as well. We got picked up directly from our hotel and driven to Longqing Gorge for a walk, a boat ride, and a small hike to a temple. Next, we went to a buffet for lunch. We then were driven to the Great Wall’s Badaling section. We took the cable car up as VIP ticket holders. Our views and photos were amazing not only because of the wall itself and the weather, but also because we were taken to a very empty section away from the crowds. I would recommend this tour as a must-do for anyone visiting Beijing!
I spent a nice day with Lisa Chen as guide, I visited several places like Great Wall, Longqingxia and I did enjoy to share a good meal with her and the driver. She speaks very good english and she is a nice person. I recommend you those guide for your next trip.
I don’t think there is a more convenient way to visit both Great Wall and Longqing Gorge than this tour. Everything was so well organized from hotel pick up to hotel drop off, we could just enjoy the entire day with no worries. Tony was very knowledgeable and told us a lot not only about our destinations but also anything we asked about Beijing.

My solo trip with Cassie went very well. The weather was not on our side, wet and foggy but we had a good laugh together as the rain poured down on us! The first stop was Badaling, Cassie knew the best way up to encounter minimal crowd, in fact we hardly saw anyone else! We went up on the funicular and had time for a lovely walk along the wall. Next stop was a buffet lunch and a jade factory. The lunch was excellent, the jade factory was also very nice and no pressure to buy anything. The last stop was Longqing gorge. I really liked it despite the rain. Well worth the visit. The views are stunning especially if you take the boat ride.
This was an excellent day. The weather was very wet and foggy but nevertheless with my wonderful guide who spoke great English we had a lot of laughs in the rain. We went to Badaling and had the wall to ourselves which was superb then we went to Longqing gorge which I enjoyed especially again as we were the only ones there. It is a very special place and well worth the trip.
