Your tour guide will meet you in the lobby of your Beijing city hotel at prearranged time. Then heading directly to Shichahai area.
During the tour, you will get rich commentary from your expert guide which includes the history and stories about the area, an overview of Chinese culinary habits, a description of different regions cuisine and an introduction to selected specialties in the shops. Your walking tour start from Shichahai area to Yandaixiejie Street, Gulou East Street, and Nanluoguxiang Allay.
You will visit different souvenir and food stops. Your food tour included 20+ different food tastings at various diverse locations, such as markets, shops, bakeries and restaurants. You will visit local haunts, get a chance to meet the owners and explore historical sites that few tourists have an opportunity to experience.
Some food tastings you will experience on this tour: Jianbing-Thin Millet flour pancake Beijing Suan Nai–Beijing Yoghurt Guantang Baozi--Stemmed soup dumplings round in shape Spicy Hotpot--with either meat or vegetable on sticks Muslim Kebabs -including lamp kebabs, leek ,eggplant etc Guokui -- Crispy Pancake. Milko was a wonderful host and historian - great English!! Note that this is a fully walking tour with no sit downs in restaurants - cart and small street front food. A great intro to this type of Chinese tourism eating - but if you’ve been in country for a bit you’ve probably already had this food. The hutong neighborhoods are adorable and 1) full tourist or 2) more residential with cute tiny sit down restaurants. This tour would have been better if we spent more time in the latter imho.
My wife and I really enjoyed spending time with Anson. The food places he took us to were simply delicious and we saw several different types of Hutongs. He also helped us find our way back after the tour by navigating us through the subway. We definitely recommend this tour!
