Description

Smell the ghee before you see the pan. Bangalore's street food scene is one of India's best-kept secrets — and this 3-hour evening walk puts you right in the thick of it. From century-old darshinis (local food joints) to the tranquil paths of Lalbagh Botanical Garden, you'll eat, explore, and understand why Bangaloreans are so proud of their city. This is an intimate, small-group experience led by a passionate local who grew up eating at these very spots. You won't find these places on any map — just the kind of honest, flavour-packed food that locals come back to every single day. Expect crispy dosas, piping hot idlis, tangy chaat, and stories behind every bite. Lalbagh isn't just a garden stop — it's where the city exhales, and we'll show you why it's been Bangalore's green heart for over 250 years.

Your evening begins where Bangalore comes to breathe. Led by your passionate local guide, we slip into Lalbagh Botanical Garden — the oldest and most beloved green lung in the city, and a place most tourists never think to explore at dusk. As the day cools and the light softens, you'll find yourself sharing pathways with friendly monkeys, curious squirrels, and birds in full evening chorus. We'll wander past giants of the plant world — ancient Banyan Trees with roots like cathedral columns, dramatic Silk Cotton Trees, and towering Cook Pines that have stood here longer than modern Bangalore itself. The still waters of Lalbagh Lake reflect it all back in silence. Breathe it in. Soak it up. Because just beyond these garden walls, the city is heating its pans, lighting its stoves, and getting ready to feed you.

Admission included120 min

Just beyond the garden gates, the city shifts gear — and so do we. We ease into the evening with snacks Bangaloreans have been grabbing on their way home for generations. Pull apart a congress bun — a soft roll hiding a punch of spicy peanuts — and wash it down with fresh avocado or sitaphal juice. Then comes the fryer: bajji in four avatars — pineapple, banana, chilli & potato — crackling hot & impossible to stop at one. Follow it with gossamer-thin dose slicked with butter & a warm holige whose jaggery filling tastes like someone's grandmother made it this morning. Then we head north. Peri peri paneer with a fiery kick, pav bhaji arriving in a cloud of butter & spice — torn, dunked, devoured. A tall jalebi coiled & syrup-soaked, paired with cool rabdi & a soft kesar jamun. A study in contrasts that makes perfect sense. The finale is unhurried. A spongy rasgulla & a stick of kulfi melting faster than you can finish it — a perfect full stop on a sentence the city wrote all evening.

Great street food tour in Bangalore

Ahmed was a great guide. He took you on a little stroll in the botanical gardens to help build an appetite, then comes the street food. I had to eventually tell him to stop giving me food because I was full. You definitely get your money’s worth!

Delicious vegetarian food!

Very friendly and fine guide who was also flexible in what we did and did not want to eat. Pleasant guide in dealing. A fun food tour through a street with all kinds of eateries. Something for everyone.

Unforgettable: The beauty of Lalbagh garden and a street food feast!

Our knowledgeable guide gave us an unforgettable taste of Bangalore! We started with a peaceful stroll through the lush greenery of Lalbagh Botanical Garden, a must-visit destination with an incredible variety of rare and stunning trees, vibrant flowers in every hue, charming Victorian structures, and natural wonders—offering a refreshing escape from the city's buzz. Then came the real highlight—an incredible street food journey featuring so many delicious treats from our guide that I lost count! From crispy bajjis and buttery dosas to the sweet, roti-like holige, refreshing mango lassi and milkshake, flavorful falooda, and the iconic congress buns, every bite was a delight, leading up to a perfect balance of bold flavors and creamy desserts. If you want to experience Bangalore through its vibrant culture, stunning nature, and mouthwatering cuisine, this guided tour is an absolute must!

Great Street Food Experience

What a great experience trying lots of different dishes in a vibrant street in Bengaluru with Praveen. He introduced us to many varieties of savoury and sweet foods and explained which were local, ingredients and how they were cooked. Too many to remember- probably about 12 - 15 different dishes. More were on offer which we had to refuse as just too full. Would highly recommend.
