Authentic Moroccan Food Tour & Dinner - Tasting the Flavors of Marrakech

Itinerary

30 min

This food tour takes place in the Heart of Marrakech: The Medina. On this flavor-packed and mouthwatering experience, you’ll taste your way through Moroccan culture, one bite at a time. Over the years, we’ve crafted and fine-tuned two delightful itineraries — each offering a rich and authentic journey through Marrakech’s culinary soul. Depending on the guide, season, or the flow of the day, your experience will follow either of these routes. Both are equally delicious, deeply local, and crafted with love and utmost care to give you a memorable evening.

60 min

Itinerary 1 • Moroccan coconut macaroons – a kids’ favorite sweet treat • Kaab Ghzal (Gazelle ankles) – a yummy local pastry filled with almond paste aromatized with orange blossom water • Traditional Harira soup, served with dates & Chebakia – just like how locals break their fasting during Ramadan • Babbouche (Moroccan snails) – slowly cooked in an aromatic herbal broth • Authentic mint tea & Msemmen – pan-fried pancakes drizzled with honey and cheese • Fakya – a festive mix of dried fruits and nuts that is carefully prepared and commonly shared among families & friends during celebrations • Signature olives of Morocco, from the greens with their creamy smooth texture to the reds tossed in parsley and cilantro Dinner is served at a cozy local restaurant: fresh Moroccan salad + a hearty Tajine. For dessert, we’ll offer you Raïb – a homemade yogurt that’s simply divine.

60 min

Itinerary 2 • Msemen Amer – Moroccan pancakes stuffed with savory fillings, often featuring spiced vegetables, popular during teatime in Morocco • Harira & Chebakia – the classic soup-and-sweet combo • Makkla bel Kefta – the Moroccan twist on the Shakshouka • Sfenj – tradition Moroccan donuts, golden and crispy on the outside, while airy and chewy inside, one of locals’ favorite street food snacks • Lhindiya – refreshing cactus fruits, rich in antioxidants and great for cooling down in hot weather • Rass Mbekher – delicately steamed sheep’s head seasoned with cumin | Sometimes replaced by local Chawarma (Succulent chicken or crispy falafel) • Panaché – a colorful smoothie made from fresh seasonal fruits • Khoudenjal – a hot Moroccan herbal infusion made from galangal root, good for digestion and enjoyed as a comforting drink during cold days Dinner is an open-air Chwa experience – authentic Moroccan barbecue with juicy grilled meats (beef, turkey, and liver).

Whichever path your evening takes, you’ll enjoy a flavorful and deeply local experience. Your belly will be filled with joy, your senses will be delighted, and you’ll have plenty of stories to share when you get home. Depending on the pace of your tour, we may stop at a traditional herbalist’s shop for a short break — a chance to learn about Moroccan spices, sip on mint tea, and use the restroom if needed. Come hungry. Leave happy. Bon appétit!

Yalla Habibi

Super tour. Guide was very informative and we learned a lot about juices, local pastries, local street sandwiches, different types of olives and got to taste prickly pear. Also got to sample local soup and teas. The spices section of the tour was much better than we thought and we topped it all off with a meal in the central square (JAF) and got to socialise with a nice group of people too. Highly recommend as we went to places we otherwise would have marched straight past and we got to experience the city more like a local. I feel that I now know Moroccan food very well. Thank you Habibi. 🐪🏜️🇲🇦

You have to do this tour! A must!!!

You can’t get this tour anywhere else—it was fantastic! Khaoula, our guide, was knowledgeable and gave us the opportunity to experience food the way local Moroccans do. The menu featured a variety of traditional and delicious foods, snacks, and drinks. Our group was vegetarian, and it never felt like we were missing out—there were no generic salads offered as substitutes. Instead, we enjoyed authentic local dishes thoughtfully selected for us. We visited eateries that we never would have discovered on our own. Highly recommended!

Fantastic Belly Filling Food Tour

We had Yassif as our guide. I think there were about 14 of us in our group from different countries. We went to seven or eight different places for food and drink. It was a great introduction to Moroccan food. Each one was unique different and very satisfying. I didn’t think I’d be able to eat everything because it was very delicious. He was a great guide and I would certainly recommend this food tour.

Trust the reviews, you’re going to enjoy this

The food tour with Mohamed Kareem was awesome! Everything exceeded my expectations including the variety, quality, and authenticity of food items. Mohamed was also one of the best tour guides I’ve had—he knows how to manage a group and he’s a wealth of knowledge, always willing to share what he knows. Very enjoyable!

Marrakesh food and places to eat

We had a small group because it was June. We tried various foods and drinks, and our guide was very knowledgeable. The doughnuts were the best! It was about 3 hours so if you do this you’d be prepared to walk. We felt that our tour was very chilled and relaxed. Thank you Mehdi!
