The tour of the Acropolis was amazing. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and with good grip. Our tour guide George was very knowledgeable but walked extremely fast and was at times hard to keep up going up hill. Overall a great tour.
It was the worst tour with Viator we ever had. I understand that some external activities cause some complications but Viator should anticipate it and plan ahead. We were informed about cyclist event in Athens days before our tour. Because of that Viator change our meeting time and place. Unfortunately our guide didn’t plan to change the itinerary to help with all road closing. We spent hours being stuck in the car driving circles for 2 hours . The minibus was not comfortable or clean. The seats were stained and uncomfortable. Our guide wanted to see change of guards so badly that we spend almost 2 hours driving in circles to get close to the parlament building without success. She introduced herself as an Athens resident, in my opinion she should have a better way to maneuver this situation. Half of our tour forcefully left the tour looking for restrooms because our the guide was not able to accommodate tour requests for restrooms. Overall it was a horrible experience. I will be requesting refund for this tour. Clearly Viator knew that cyclist event with road closing was happening but they made no attempt to change our itinerary to make our experience smooth. Viator needs to be more flexible and ready to make an new itinerary in case of changes in city’s live events. As a tourists we trust local companies to make our site seeing pleasant and smooth. Viator did not deliver this time.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are truly sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. Large city events, such as the cycling event that took place in Athens that day, can unfortunately have a significant impact on the normal flow of a sightseeing tour. Although we were aware of the event and adjusted the meeting time and location in advance, the exact timing and extent of road closures are not always communicated in detail by the Greek police authorities for safety and security reasons. In many cases, traffic restrictions change in real time, and tourist vehicles are allowed or redirected depending on the situation at each moment. Our crew made every possible effort to complete the tour and provide the scheduled service, but the continuous changes in traffic regulations and road access made this extremely challenging. We understand how frustrating it must have been to spend valuable tour time in traffic instead of enjoying the city, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused. We also regret your comments regarding the comfort and cleanliness of the minibus, as well as the difficulty in accommodating restroom requests during the tour. These points are very important to us and will be reviewed internally with the team involved, as this is not the standard we aim to provide. Athens is a living city, and special events can sometimes create unexpected complications. However, we fully understand that guests trust local operators to manage these situations as smoothly as possible. Your feedback is valuable and will help us improve our contingency planning and on-the-spot decision-making for similar situations in the future. Once again, we sincerely apologize for the disappointing experience and appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention.
Tour is excellent. If you aren traveling with someone with mobility issues, it may be a bit challenging. Very informative!
The walk began from Key Tours at 3.45 and walked past the old buildings en route to the Acropolis. Here we were told Myths of the Gods and their experiences in the original. Athens. As we slowly climbed the hill, our enthusiastic and well informed guide took us through all the side buildings. Those still standing, like the theatre - imagine being able to stand where the theatre first began, as one person stepped out from thw chorus of dancers and singers and spoke to the audience. Slowly through the original hospitals, past the springs and the huge Roman built theatre we climbed with stories continuing. Although qe were impatient to arrive, when we when appreciated that we were part of history. The long line of people who came to wonder at the superb buildings and praise the God Athena. When the sun shone on the buildings as it sank in the west, the columns of this geometrically perfect building glowed golden in the light.
I learned a lot and got a better understanding of the long history of this ancient place. It was hot. Bring plenty of water and a hat.

Having the bus leave without you when you ere just blocks away and running to catch it is deepy frustrating, and we fully understand your disappoitment. A missed tour and the extra expense of $140 fr independent entry is a serious issue. We would lik to look into this specific situation and understandwhat happened. We had a wonderful tour with the fabulous Teddy and his BFF Harris. Both of these guys were like a walking encyclopedia. They are so knowledgeable. Teddy was funny and was so impressive with remembering everyone's name
