absolutely amazing experience. i booked last minute as a solo attendee and had an absolute blast. the group was small and welcoming and the Chef/Teacher and Maria made the experience unforgettable. The food and wine was amazing, i learned many true greek cooking tips, and had plenty of leftovers to continue enjoying and share with friends. I cannot thank you enough Greek Kitchen Team. It was the best way to end my stay in athens!!
This was such a unique and amazing experience! Vasia and Maria were incredible and so hospitable towards us. Touring the local market in the morning before cooking was also such a treat as we got to see this part of the city come alive in. Seeing how fresh our ingredients were was such a treat before returning to the classroom to begin cooking. The cooking portion of the class was also so fun!! We had a group with various cooking abilities and everyone enjoyed the class! Being able to learn about the food we made and when it is traditionally made was such a nice experience and gave us much more appreciation for Greek cuisine. Everyone had so much fun making the dolmades, and was also really funny to see how competitive everyone got when rolling the spanakopita to see who could roll it without it busting. The imam bayildi was also such a delicious dish - even the carnivores in my group craved it even after the class. The tzatziki was so cool and delicious and was the perfect compliment to all of our dishes. And to top it all off we even made everyone in my group’s favorite dessert after trying it for the first time a few days prior to the class - portokalopita! It surprised us on how simple these dishes were and are so excited to try making these desserts at home! We all loved the class so much and are so appreciative of Vasia and Maria for making this such a wonderful experience for us as well as sharing their love of their culture and its food. We left with a much greater appreciation of the Greek people and their delicious cuisine.
Vasia was very knowledgeable and is an experienced cook. She gave us many helpful tips and tricks for the dishes we prepared. Plus she is hillarious!
Thanassis who leads the class is wonderful! He took us through the produce, meat and fish market which is very nearby. He pointed out his favorite stalls that he regularly shops from. We booked the 3 pm class so some of the stalls were already closed but many were open so you could get a feel for the market. Then we went back to the wonderful air conditioning and made 5 dishes - an eggplant dish (imam baidi), dolmadas, spinach pie, tzatziki and portokalopita (orange cake). Everyone was involved throughout the cooking.. Very yummy, lots of white wine or juice. I definitely recommend!
Wonderful cooking experience with vasti! The food was fabulous and the time spent preparing and cooking were entertaining. Would definitely recommend
What a great experience! If you come to Athens in July, you'll want to schedule things to do in the air conditioning mid-day to get out of the heat. This was perfect, and SO much fun! We started with a short tour of Central Athens Market, where the locals buy their food for themselves and for their restaraunts, and then we headed inside to cook our meal. Our hosts were kind and fun, and also took great care to make sure everyone's dietary needs were met (food allergies, and preferences as well). The authentic Greek food we cooked was absolutely delicious, and we were provided with the recipes to take home as well. There were four families in our class and everyone left happy and very full! My family actually canceled our 8:30pm dinner reservations because we were so full from our 3pm-6pm class that we knew we wouldn't be able to eat another bite that evening!
The cooking class was really really nice. We had a lot of fun as a group together with „Kirk“, he made it funny and we could see that he‘s doing it with lots of pleasure. The food we cooked was also very delicious, traditional and easy to make at home. We can definitely recommend booking this class!
Thanasis was great. My girlfriend said best experience ever!! Very authentic.
Our favorite part of Athens! My friend and I love yo cook. I’m half Greek so this experience was wonderful. We prepared 5 dishes and unlike other classes, we got to do everything ourselves. Make sure you come hungry! Our Chef was funny and the pace of the class was perfect! Highly recommend!!
Wonderful experience. Antonia was a wonderful host and explained everything very well. We had a fun afternoon/evening and ended with a delicious meal made together as a class. I even had leftovers to take home. Seemed like a long time for a class, but it went very quickly. I particularly appreciated the thought and care to make sure my food allergies wasn't a problem. Class size limited to 8, so created a nice and relaxed atmosphere. Well worth the cost for what we learned and the quality of food & wine.
Hi Erica, thank you for your review! I am so pleased to hear that you had a great time with Antonia! I hope you enjoyed the leftovers!
