In contrast to the Acropolis proper, a walled sanctuary entered through the Propylaea, the Victory Sanctuary was open, entered from the Propylaea's southwest wing and from a narrow stair on the north. The theatre reached its fullest extent in the fourth century BC under the epistates of Lycurgus when it would have had a capacity of up to 17,000, and was in continuous use down to the Roman period. The theatre then fell into decay in the Byzantine era and was not identified, excavated, and restored to its current condition until the nineteenth century.

Half day Athens tour

We loved our driver Tomas! He knew just where to drop us off so that we could easily access the acropolis. He brought water and small snacks. I liked that our tour had acropolis tickets included. That way the driver could time everything. And we could skip the ticket line. He also drove us all over showing us many of the sights of Athens. We would highly recommend!

Perfect for a half day with family.

We enjoyed getting picked up at our hotel and Nick was great at telling us all about Athens. Our family would have liked having a guide inside the monuments to learn more. But overall it was a great day and the guide was very informative.

Pressed for time and want to get a great experience

We had a great tour guide, Xenofontas. We love to learn the history of places we visit and Xenofontas made sure we got that knowledge. He arrived early to guarantee we started on time. This was helpful based on the time of our tour because we were able to avoid the crowds. We explored many places in the city and we enjoyed it in a short time frame as we had to be back at our hotel to learn for our cruise. If you pressed for time but you want to get a great experience, get a lots of photos and learn more about Athen this is the tour for you.

Car tour with stops in Athens

My tour around Athens with Yiannis was superb and a good bang for the buck. This was the right length of 4 hours and I saw most of the wonderful sites in Athens by car. Good for people with mobility issues and do not have a lot of time in Athens. With one tour with not much walking, I saw most of the important must visit sites in Athens. Also the convenience of being picked up and dropped off in front of your hotel was really time saving and easy on the logistics for the visitor. I would recommend this tour for solo travelers and small groups. Give this a 5 star rating!
