Day started early at 7am. The driver, Fares, picked me up and we started off on our 2 hour drive to Alexandria from the Giza area and to meet my tour guide Rania who was already in Alexandria. The drive was relaxed and seemed to fly by. The driver dropped me off and I met up with Rania at the Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa. After touring the catacombs and learning their fascinating history we met back up with the driver and we were off to the Ancient Roman Amphitheatre (Kom el Dikka), an archeological site that includes a theatre, bath complex and lecture halls. Next up we headed off to the Citadel of Qaitbay, a beautiful 15th century defensive fortress, constructed using stones from the legendary Lighthouse of Alexandria. After briefing me on the history I was allowed to roam around and capture some incredible photos of the immaculate building and its surroundings. As always Fares was right there to whisk us off to the next tour spot, Bibliotecha Alexandrina which continues the legacy of the original Library of Alexandria. This place is massive and can hold over 8 million books, has multiple museums and a planetarium. Seeing all of this amazing history made for a long day so it was time for lunch and when you're by the sea you may as well have seafood. Delicious bread with traditional sauces for dipping and bone in fish with rice. A great way to cap off the tour. Fares and I parted ways with Raina, who was an exceptional tour guide. I learned so much while also enjoying the views and having fun. Couldn't ask for anything more. Fares who had been wonderful at getting us from place to place in the Alexandria traffic then drove the two hours back to my hotel and my Alexandria journey was complete. For now.
Great driver. We got the driver only and then bought site tickets separately. Worked great

We are riding back to Cairo from our day trip to Alexandria. We had a perfectly lovely day. Our driver, Ahmed, arrived on time at 7:00 AM. We had wanted a later departure but he explained in fluent English that waiting till 7:30 would have put us in heavy traffic. We sailed along the highway, arriving in Alexandria in about 2 1/2 hours so we appreciated that suggestion. Along the way, we chatted as Ahmed, in response to our questions, told us about Egyptian life as he had experienced it. Once in Alexandria, we met our extremely knowledgeable guide, Rania. We first visited the catacombs and then the Pillar of Pompey. Rania chose the order of the sites we visited so as to best avoid the crowds. For me the highlight was the Citadel of Qaitbay, the site of the ancient lighthouse. We made a short stop at the Morsi Abu Él Abbas Mosque and she allowed me time to go inside and visit it. Then our guide and driver took us to a seafood restaurant overlooking the ever-so-blue Mediterranean. Our guide first checked to see that there weren’t too many people such that service would be slow. They made sure our orders were quickly taken. Food was delicious and service was efficient. Finally we visited the Library of Alexandria. At each stop, our guide told us interesting facts about the place and skillfully handled our questions. It was easy to see that she is well educated in Egyptology. Both the guide and the driver were kind, courteous, respectful, and attentive to our needs. All of this added up to a perfect day, one which helped us learn about Alexandria, and to get to know more about the helpful and friendly Egyptian people.
Thank you so much for this incredibly thoughtful and detailed review! 🌊✨ We’re truly delighted to hear that your day in Alexandria was so enjoyable from beginning to end. Ahmed will be very happy to know that his punctuality, helpful advice about traffic, and friendly conversations added to your experience. Making sure our guests travel comfortably and efficiently is always a priority. We’re also proud to hear such kind words about Rania. Her knowledge, thoughtful planning to avoid crowds, and passion for sharing Egypt’s history truly make a difference. It’s wonderful that you enjoyed the Citadel of Qaitbay, the mosque visit, the seafood lunch by the Mediterranean, and the Library of Alexandria — it sounds like a perfectly balanced day. Your appreciation of the care, organization, and hospitality means a lot to our entire team. We’re honored to have been part of your journey and hope to welcome you back soon for another unforgettable experience in Egypt 🇪🇬💙
