We avoid the 'touristy' restaurants and instead take you to our favourite spots. This tour offers a genuine introduction to the city’s culinary scene. Expect a delicious mix of fresh seafood, traditional foods, award-winning chocolate, locally produced drinks, and popular seasonal dinner dishes. The tour concludes at the iconic Fløirestauranten, where you’ll take in sweeping views over the city. Return funicular tickets on the Fløibanen are included, making the journey to and from Mount Fløyen part of the experience.

Trading seafood since the 1200s, it remains a lively meeting place where locals and visitors gather to experience the very best of the coast. Here, you’ll enjoy a tasting of traditional and seasonal seafood, selected according to what’s freshest on the day. Depending on the season, this may include delicate salmon, sweet prawns, succulent crab or other local specialities straight from the fjords and North Sea. As you sample, you’ll learn why seafood has shaped Norway’s culture, economy and daily life for centuries. With its long coastline, cold clean waters and generations of fishing heritage, Norway has built its identity around the sea. From preserving fish for winter survival in the past to today’s world-renowned seafood exports, the ocean has always been central to life here. This first stop offers not just a taste of Norway, but an introduction to the story behind it.

Our fourth stop brings us to Fjåk at KODE, home to one of Norway’s most celebrated chocolate makers. Fjåk is an award-winning, bean-to-bar producer known for crafting chocolate in small batches and incorporating distinctive Nordic ingredients into their creations. Here, you’ll discover how chocolate can reflect place just as much as seafood or baking. Fjåk focuses on quality cacao combined with local flavours, creating bars that highlight ingredients such as wild berries, sea salt and other elements inspired by the Norwegian landscape. During our visit, you’ll taste a unique twist on a national favourite: brown cheese served in cheesecake form — a modern take on one of Norway’s most iconic flavours. You’ll also sample Fjåk’s handcrafted chocolate, learning about the production process and what sets this local brand apart on the international stage. This stop is where tradition meets innovation — and where Norway’s flavours take on a sweeter form.

At the summit of Mount Fløyen, Fløirestauranten has welcomed guests for more than a century. Overlooking Bergen and the surrounding fjords, it provides a fitting setting for the grand finale of the tour. Here, we sit down to a generous seasonal feast showcasing both meat and fish dishes, with a menu that changes throughout the year to reflect the best available local produce. The kitchen highlights ingredients from the region — celebrating the flavours of the fjords, farms and forests in carefully prepared, comforting plates. You’ll also enjoy a meat and cheese platter sourced from local farmers, offering a taste of Norway’s proud agricultural traditions. The experience is paired with local apple cider, a refreshing nod to Western Norway’s growing cider culture. With sweeping views, historic surroundings and a table full of regional specialities, this final stop brings together the flavours and stories of Bergen in one memorable meal.

This is much more than a food tour. Jørgen not only introduced our small group (10) to the many flavors of Norwegian food, but also the history of Bergen and a great overview of the city center. This guy is a wealth of knowledge as well as a world traveller. All of the places we visited on our tour were 1st class. Excellent food (in abundance) excellent staff and excellent presentation. I highly recommend this event to anyone visiting Bergen. You will NOT be disappointed.

My wife, 18-year-old son, and I thoroughly enjoyed our walking food tour of Bergen! Our guide was Rigmor, and she was delightful and informative. She's clearly very enthusiastic about Norway in general and Bergen in particular, and shared many interesting facts and stories about the region. The food tour was great. If anyone in your party does not like or cannot eat seafood, be sure to share this information when you book the tour, and they will set up alternative options. The food selections were varied and very appropriate for the region. Our favorite was the stop for local chocolate and coffee! :) The size of the group was small and appropriate for the situation, and the length (several hours) was perfect for an outing that ended at the top of the mountain after a ride up the funicular (which we were planning to do anyway). The atmosphere was casual and friendly, and the cost, though relatively high, is very reasonable for the quality of the tour and the food and for the value you get out of the experience. Highly recommended, especially if you are lucky enough to get Rigmor as your tour guide!
One of the best tours of our trip!!! Our guide Jurgen was terrific!!! Informative, attentive to some diet restrictions ( I am a vegan and he adapted the tour beautifully) and fun too! I can not recommend him and this tour enough!!!
We had a wonderful time on this tour led by Rigmor! She is native Norwegian and also a certified Bergen history guide, so not only she gave us a lot of background on the Norwegian food culture, she also shared her own family stories of foods she grew up eating. She also is v knowledgable with Bergen history so this tour is not just about food but you also learn about Bergen! We have 7 people on our group (us 3 and a group of 4) which is a very nice size. We had 4 stops in the city plus the final stop up on Mt Fløyen in the beautiful restaurant. Afterwards we decided to walk around on the top, and we opted to walk down the mountain instead of using the funicular ticket (included in the tour). I highly recommend this food tour and I hope you are as lucky as us to get Rigmor as your guide.
The guide was excellent explaining the city and foods we tried. Loved the views of the city and the food experience was lovely . Especially liked the view at the top of the vehicular and the restaurant was good and nicely decirated
We were so fortunate to spend half a day in Bergen with Jorgen as our guide. His food tour was exceptional to say the least. Jorgen grew up and lives in Bergen and has an incredible wealth of both history and contemporary events impacting the city. We experienced a wide variety of local food from sea food to ciders to cheeses and desserts. An impromptu stop at the grocery store yielded a wealth of information and anecdotes. I sincerely hope he plans to make this a permanent part of his presentation. Finishing up at the restaurant at the top of the cable car ride afforded us as a group to once again share wonderful food as well as the fellowship with Jorgen and our fellow travelers. I cannot think of a more splendid way to spend the day. I feel that I know the city and the people so much better. Jorgen was the best. Highly recommend this tour.
This was the best food tour I have been on and I do them in every country I go to. Jergen was informative and knew so much history about Norway and Bergen specifically. Highly recommend!
