I travel often and have used private guides all over the world, but this was by far one of the best tours we’ve ever experienced. Our guide, Hassan, was exceptional. He is very knowledgeable, incredibly kind, and clearly passionate about his beautiful city. A lifelong resident of Marrakech, he knows every hidden corner and local shortcuts. He showed us around like a true insider and even helped us negotiate prices in the markets. If I could give him ten stars, I absolutely would!
The magical tour started with our tour guide, Omar, arguing with us that dinner wasn't included (I see that they have changed the descriptions now) and then him grumbling every time he had to pay for something. He said he wouldn't take us to the main square because it has animal cruelty and the food is unsanitary. Instead he took us to a hole in the wall (literally) which was probably his buddies place and was served unappetizing and bland oxtail, beef cheek, beans, spinach, and bread. Nothing had any of the flavours we expected from Marrakech. As for the drink, he did take us to a roof top place but it sure wasn't overlooking the square, remember, he doesn't like the square. The high light was the yogurt.
Hi there, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're truly sorry to hear that the tour did not meet your expectations and that there was confusion about what was included. This is not the level of service we aim to provide, and we regret that the dining experience and overall tour fell short. We take your feedback seriously and will review it closely with our team to ensure better communication and quality moving forward. All the best, Withlocals Team
Thank you to our great guide Lahcen for looking after us on this trip. Lahcen was very informative and we learnt a lot about Marrakesh, he also took us for tea (which we have to say has been the best tea we have tasted on our whole trip). We were really well looked after and had a great couple of hours
We had a great night with Houssaine. Houssaine was extremely knowledgeable and interesting to listen to. Houssaine was able to alter the tour when my young son started to tire and took us too some truly local gems. Highly recommended.
We had a very nice evening tour of the Medina with Mohamed, who is knowledgeable and passionate about his city. The tour was fairly fast-paced as there was much ground to cover, but also included sampling different types of local food which, we didn't expect (the description said a snack, but it was enough to make us cancel our dinner reservations for later). Overall it was a nice tour, thanks Mohamed!
Amazing tour of the Medina, souks and markets. Jaafar was the best guide. Makes the experience much more comfortable and enjoyable with a great guide like Jaafar
The tour of the Medina and souk was very enjoyable and just the right length of time to see lots but not too tiring. Mohamed was very informative about life in Marrakech and filled me in on the craftsmen who work in the souk. I especially liked when he took me away from the main passages to parts that were much quieter. I was amazed when he took me down to where a man burns wood all the time to heat the hamman. He was a mine of very interesting information and I recommend to anyone visiting Marrakech to do this tour.
Our tour guide Hassan started out great and was super flexible in meeting us at our hotel which was awesome. He took us thru a riad behind rebuilt, and showed us the back of a hammam where we could see how it functions - super neat. Downhill from there. We described how we’d already seen carpet shops, leather factories, and metal works and didnt want to revisit (because we didnt want the pressure sales). He took us to a music shop (with a great musician which was great) but then we got the sale move. Then he asked if we had other tours for the rest of Marrakesh (which we did) and it seemed like he checked out. Finally we asked for a dinner recommendation and he took us to a clear tourist trap - huge space, $41-50/pp, and #1324 and 2.5 stars on Tripadvisor. That was the last straw. Left a terrible taste. Recommendation: be really explicit with guide that youre not interested in carpet, leather, etc places. You can honestly do them on your own.
Hi Michael, Thank you for your detailed feedback, and we’re truly sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet expectations after a promising start. While it’s great that Hassan was flexible and showed you some unique spots, we understand your frustration with the pressure sales and the dinner recommendation. Your feedback about being explicit with guides is valuable, and we’ll reinforce the importance of tailoring tours to guests’ preferences. We’ll also address your concerns with Hassan to ensure better alignment and attentiveness in future tours. Thank you for helping us improve!
The tour was amazing and made even more enjoyable with the help of our guide Mohammed. His knowledge of Marrakech and Morocco was outstanding and he was so friendly and welcoming. He took us to all the parts of the souk, including bits that as a tourist we would have missed. He explained the history, the culture and how the artisans make all the wonderful goods that they sell. He also shared with us a few of his favourite places, including a local juice bar where we enjoyed a delicious smoothie and the spice stall where his mum gets her spices. It was easy to book and the meet up point was very clear. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore the heart of Marrakech and its vibrant market.
A ton of knowledge shared, good experience and great way to see the souks. The only con (negative) is that we didn’t have a drink on any rooftop as stated in the description of the tour. Small disappointment, but it was still a great tour with Mohamed.
