This is a stress free, easy way to see a lot of the Lake District in a morning without feeling rushed. You have time to soak up the views and even paddle in a lake if you are brave enough. It is a great way for getting an overview of the Lake District, its culture, history and of course, its amazing scenery. You will get plenty of variety, see magnificent scenery, eat gingerbread and get all the facts, figures and fascinating stories from our friendly, knowledgeable guides and drivers who know the area well. Travelling in a comfortable mini-van with air con & phone charging ports as one of only 6/7 passengers you will find it is easy to ask questions and join in the conversation (if you want to). Excellent tour, informative and fun. We never could have seen such amazing sites by ourselves. Jillian and Sandra were amazing.
What a lovely review — thank you! So glad Gillian and Sandra made the morning informative and fun, and got you to places you'd never have found on your own. That's the whole point of having two brilliant people who know this landscape so well. Thanks very much for this!
We all thoroughly enjoyed our trip and we were very impressed with our tour guide Gillian and driver Sandra. Their knowledge of the area was fabulous covering so many different elements. We were very lucky as there were only 3 of us and Gillian and Sandra were so well informed. It was a fantastic way to see the lakes. Highly recommend 🤩
What a brilliant review — thank you! So glad Gillian and Sandra's knowledge across so many different angles came through so well, and that a smaller group on the day made it feel extra special. A fantastic way to see the lakes is exactly what we hope every guest feels. Thanks so much for such a generous recommendation — made our day!
It was just me and my wife in the minibus so we had tour guide Tim to ourselves. He was fantastic: very knowledgable, funny, and respectful. He clearly loved his job too. A great tour if you have a short trip. Highly recommended
Francis, Tim to yourselves for a morning — that is a brilliant way to spend a short trip. Eight lakes and someone who genuinely loves every one of them. Really glad it hit the mark. If you ever have more time, come back — a full day opens up a lot more of the landscape and the stories. You would love it.
We had an absolutely fantastic experience on the 8 Lakes tour! The scenery was breathtaking throughout, and the itinerary was perfectly paced. Gillian was an outstanding guide — incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and full of interesting stories that really brought the Lake District to life. Sandra, our driver, was equally amazing — professional, friendly, and made us feel completely safe on the narrow and winding roads. Everything ran smoothly from start to finish. Highly recommended!
Thank you so much — really glad the morning delivered. Gillian and Sandra are a wonderful team and it is lovely to hear them both mentioned. The stories behind the landscape are what turn a drive into something more, and we are glad it felt that way. Hope you make it back to the Lakes again.
Great tour with the Lake tours Writers, poets, history, views, ginger bread - just great morning, William Wordsworth his house and family greave Beatrix Potter her story And breathtaking views over the lakes and valleys
Ulla, what a lovely mix to pack into one morning — writers, poets, history, gingerbread and those spectacularly breathtaking views over the lakes and valleys all together. Wordsworth's home and grave alongside Beatrix Potter's story is exactly the kind of morning we love giving people. Thank you for your kind review.
Fantastic morning exploring a place I have never stayed before. My partner and I were staying here for 2 nights but before had only past through. Our guide Tim was lovely and put us at ease as soon as we met him. He was helpful, friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the area and it's history. Although there could have been 7 people on the trip it was only myself and my partner and we enjoyed the atmosphere greatly. It was a four hour tour and we went to so many places it would have taken days to do. The whistle-stop tour has allowed us to already book a hotel for next year in a place we can make the best use of our time and spend longer in the places that fit our interests the best. The tour is excellent for people who don't know the area well and absolutely worth every penny. Thank you Tim and team. Sharon and Richard
Sharon and Richard, already booked for next year — that is the best possible thing to read. The morning tour is brilliant for exactly the reason you describe: it shows you enough of the Lakes to know which corners you want to go back to and linger in. So glad Tim made you feel at home from the start. See you next year.
Everything worked out great ... from the pickup to the safe ride. In between, a trip through the Lake District with well-chosen stops. The information in between taught you about the origin and preservation of this region by dedicated people.
Thank you — really glad everything came together from start to finish. The people who shaped and saved this landscape are some of the most interesting characters in English history, and we love telling their stories. Hope you make it back for more.
This tour was an unexpected delight for our holiday. Lillian our guide was a delight with her engaging, conversational style and very knowledgeable.
Patrick, an unexpected delight is a wonderful thing to read — thank you. Gillian's conversational style is one of the things guests mention most and we are so glad it made the morning feel easy and enjoyable. Hope to welcome you back one day.
We joined this tour as a couple, along with two other couples. In addition to the driver, there was also a guide, and both of them were historians. They were extremely knowledgeable about the area and shared many fascinating stories throughout the tour. We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed beautiful views of lakes, farmlands, Stonehenge, and the house where Wordsworth once lived. It would have been impossible to visit so many wonderful places in such a short time on our own. The tour lasted three and a half hours, but it was packed with interesting sights and stories. It was truly a meaningful and rewarding experience—we’re really glad we joined.
Really glad the morning packed in so much and that the stories made the landscape feel meaningful rather than just beautiful. Three and a half hours that feel full rather than rushed is something we work hard to get right. Hope you make it back for the full day one day — there is a great deal more to find.
A perfect way to see the lakes! Our guides were incredibly kind and knowledgeable. They provided tons of interesting information. The stops were all great to see, particularly the standing stones. So glad we did this!
Casi, this is brilliant to read — thank you! So glad the morning was the perfect way to see the lakes, and that the standing stones were such a highlight. Castlerigg does that to people every time! Thanks so much for this!
