Grasmere and Hawkshead are certainly two of the most traditional, historical and adorable villages in the Lake District. On this tour you will visit both of these villages along with Tarn Hows and Blea Tarn, two of Lakeland's most popular and charming tarns. Picture perfect villages, unspoilt valleys, tarns, lakes and many more hidden gems are all part of this 6 hour tour.

Drive through Bowness and stopping at Adelaide hill viewpoint, Gummers how and the viewpoint near Brantfell. All of which are excellent photo opportunities.
We take a brief stop at Waterhead in Ambleside situated at the head of Lake Windermere.
Enjoy a short walk to Rydal Falls or take a walk to Rydal cave next Rydal water.
William Wordsworth called Grasmere "The loveliest spot that man hath ever found." Whilst in Grasmere visit the famous "Grasmere gingerbread shop."
The great Langdale valley is some 12,170 acres, much of it in the care of the National trust, who have 10 farms here. Elterwater and Chapelstile are two beautiful villages you will see here.
We take the spectacular drive from Great Langdale to Little Langdale to visit Blea Tarn, probably the highlight of the valley for many.
Condition Water is one of the most imposing and beautiful of the English lakes. The Lake is dominated by the "Old man of Coniston" which rises to 803 metres.
Tarn Hows is one of the top scenic destinations in the North West of England. It is a beauty spot that must not be missed.
Hawkshead is an ancient township that has flourished since Norse times, with many buildings dating from the 17th century.

My wife and I are from Australia and organised a private tour with David. We're so pleased we did; we found him to be extremely knowledgeable and had a thoroughly enjoyable day with him. He told us about the history of the different places we visited, took us to some special unexpected sites, and also a couple of sites we specifically asked about. We found him to be an excellent tour guide and can not speak highly enough of the tour and David's coordination of it. He added extra little touches from his own research, such as old photos of some of the sites, so it gave more context and made the history come alive.

David was an excellent guide, extremely knowledgeable about the area and history. He has supplemental photos and information that add depth to the tour information, giving us a very unique picture of the development of the Lake District. It's a full 6 hour itinerary, so have your camera and snacks ready!

Our first trip to the Lake District and after a 6 hour tour with David we are in love! So many gorgeous views and a wealth of information, punctuated with warmth and humor - so much so that the day flew by!
