Buckingham Palace has served as the official London residence of the UK’s sovereigns since 1837 and today is the administrative headquarters of the Monarch. Today, Buckingham Palace is very much a working building and the centrepiece of the UK’s constitutional monarchy, it serves as the venue for many royal events and ceremonies from entertaining foreign Head of States to celebrating achievement at Investitures and receptions.

The Abbey has been the coronation church since 1066, and is the final resting place of 17 monarchs, as well as the scene of 16 Royal weddings. The church we see today was begun by Henry III in 1245. It’s one of the most important Gothic buildings in the country, and has the medieval shrine of an Anglo-Saxon saint at its heart. Today it is still a church dedicated to regular worship and to the celebration of great events in the life of the nation. Neither a cathedral nor a parish church, Westminster Abbey (or the Collegiate Church of St Peter, Westminster to give it its correct title) is a "Royal Peculiar" under the jurisdiction of a Dean and Chapter, subject only to the Sovereign and not to any archbishop or bishop.

For more than 1,400 years, a Cathedral dedicated to St Paul has stood at the highest point in the City. Frequently at the centre of national events, traditions have been observed here and radical new ideas have found expression under the iconic dome. In many cases these events have left some physical record as well as echoes in the intangible memory of the building. The present Cathedral, the masterpiece of Britain's most famous architect Sir Christopher Wren, is at least the fourth to have stood on the site. It was built after its predecessor was destroyed in the Great Fire of London in 1666, and services began in 1697. This was the first Cathedral to be built after the English Reformation in the sixteenth-century, when Henry VIII removed the Church of England from the jurisdiction of the Pope and the Crown took control of the life of the church.

Great Tour to start the New Year.

Great tour to start the New Year. He was on time for pickup. Went over what we've already seen and experienced and he tailored the tour based on that. Sprinkled some US history into the sites we visited as well.

Unforgettable London Adventure

As a first-time tourist in London, I knew I wanted to see all the iconic sites around the city. Knowing how time-consuming the trips would be and the fact that one of my family members had difficulty walking for long periods of time, we chose to go sightseeing with the Bespoke Black Cab Tours. That's how we met Paul, who showed us all around London, adjusted the itinerary to our needs and requests, and made this journey one of the most memorable moments of our entire stay. Not only did we see the Buckingham Palace, St. Paul's Cathedral, and many more beautiful places, but Paul was an amazing companion, and the conversations were pleasantly never-ending. He planned the whole trip, knowing which sites would be less crowded at what time, and gave us tips for the next days of our stay. We've spent the day in an exquisite, comfortable, and light-hearted atmosphere.

The best way to see London

Paul was absolutely outstanding from our first interaction online, to setting up a unique day (since we’d ventured out and already seen some things) through to the day itself. We felt like we were old friends almost from the beginning. We had such a great day and saw so many things - everything on our “must see” list and more. We highly recommend Paul the next time you are in London, and we know we will be reaching out to Hume again next time we are there.

it was an absolute pleasure, I had an absolute blast with you all day, look forward to the next time

Wonderful tour of London

The thought of sitting with 50 other people on a large tour bus sounded dreadful, so we spent a little more for the comfort and flexibility of a private tour. It was well worth it! We had a great overview of London in just a short time. Paul was one of the best guides we've ever had: friendly, knowledgable and has a sense of humor. He got to know us and tailored the tour based on our interests. I highly recommend this tour!

Amazing!!

The experience was amazing! Paul was extremely knowledgeable about London and it's history. In addition to showing us the main landmarks he took us on a fantastic tour of London and it's lesser known "gems". His interaction with us was great and his sense of humor was a major bonus. I would highly recommend booking a black cab tour with him!

Operator response

Look No Futher

If you are looking for a great tour around London, look no further. Paul is your guide. He is very knowledgeable of the history of his great city and is an all-around joy to be with. He will adapt the tour to your interest. He picked my wife and me up from the airport when we landed and took us all around town, allowing us to see all the sites and giving us pointers for the rest of the time we were in London. Our only regret was that we did not have more time with him to share a pint and chat.

Operator response

Hi Kyle, thanks for the fantastic review, next time we will make time for a pint (or two) and a chat with the rest of the gang!! see you soon (hopefully)

Excellent highly recommend

Paul was our guide and he was excellent. He picked us up 15 minutes early just so we could make the changing if the guards. He was very informative regarding the history of each site we visited. We were able to see so much in the 7 hours and now have a new bucket list to return to London. Thank you for a fun day!

Operator response
