The trip was magical! Our guide/driver Chris was super friendly, accommodating, and ready to make our experience the best. He told us about the history of South Africa while we were driving down and was very attentive to our needs. He even served as our personal photographer and shared his playlist with us which made for a fun an memorable time! The Garden lodge accommodations were top rate. We stayed in a chalet and they were very luxurious with private balconies. The game drives were exciting and the guides were well informed. Warm ponchos were provided and on the evening drive drinks and snacks were served. Jonathan our game guide was very knowledgeable with respect to the wildlife and we felt very well taken care of. The food at the lodge was excellent and the spa Was very nice. The only bad thing was the lack of time and a two day safari package does not give you enough time to thoroughly enjoy the lodge.
I had the most fantastic time on this 2-day safari. Our guide, Vaughan, was attentive, entertaining, and incredibly knowledgeable. The Garden Lodge is beautiful, and I only wish I could have extended my stay. The itinerary is well balanced, and the road trip offers spectacular views of several mountain ranges. I was also extremely lucky to be part of such a great group of fellow travelers. Warmly recommended!
I don't normally leave reviews, but my trip with Vaughan on Bokbus was such an incredible experience that I decided I needed to spread the word! I think if you are only staying in Cape Town for a few days, this tour is an ideal way to learn about the city and culture from a local while being whisked off to a magical safari resort experience that is both thrilling and relaxing. For me, some highlights included: - Stops along the way that not only broke up the driving time and allowed us to stretch our legs but also experience some tasty local cuisine and see cool sights like a huge stingray, beautiful pengiuns, and the amazing southern coastline. - Entertainment by our very knowledgeable guide. There was never a dull moment with Vaughan who clearly knows his stuff and is well connected. All the while, he kept the mood fun & helped our group bond and get to know each other. He is an extremely safe driver, which helped me relax and enjoy the ride. He was able to adapt plans perfectly, ensuring we got the most out of our short trip, even despite a bit of wind and rain during the last few hours of our tour. That takes skill! - Learning about the magnificent animals on our game watch with expert guide Jo-Mari. She let us see cheetahs in hunting action & magnificent lions, zebras, rhinos, wildebeest, antelope & more up close! The resort was truly luxurious. The photos don't do it justice... A real oasis!
What a way to finish my trip to Cape Town. Frank the guide was amazing. Great to see the sights. The safari was more than I could have imagined. Accomodation, hospitality and food at the safari was delicious and sizeable portions. Couldn’t speak more highly of the trip.
Mawande was an excellent guide and storyteller. Learned so much history.
Overall this was a great 2-day adventure. The evening and morning safari rides were amazing; we had close-up views of four lions, two African elephants, many Cape buffalo and several zebras. Our overnight in a chalet room made the experience authentic. Finally, the dinner and breakfast that were included were delicious! Our only issue was on the first morning when there was confusion about the pickup time. The tour operator sent a message with a later pickup time than Viator had on our tickets and on our reservation. It was not a big deal; however, an extra thirty minutes of sleep until 6:00 am would have been welcome. I wish Viator would have updated the reservation to be consistent with the tour operator!
We loved the trip with Mawande! Would highly recommend. Very comfortable and beautiful trip.
This was a great trip. Can’t say enough nice things about our guide and driver Vaughan. We were well informed from pick up to drop off. It was a lot of time on the road to get to these amazing places and I felt very safe with him behind the wheel. The Garden Route Lodge was truly amazing. Accommodations, staff and food all top shelf. Thank you for a wonderful time touring South Africa
Well what can we say, what a trip! Sights, food, coffee, loads of nformation, and safari to top it off. We had the best time on this trip and had the fabulous Vaughan as our guide, he was hilarious, knowledgeable and great company! Our group was fun, and such a mix of around the world. We got to see parts of South Africa that we wouldn't have if we didn't do this trip. Cape Aghulas was a highlight, such a beautiful spot, closely followed by the penguins at Betty's Beach, but the highlight was the safari! The accommodation was amazing, the staff were just fabulous, and the guided tours were amazing, our guide was really knowledgeable and we really did have the best time and ticked something off the bucket list! We toured and ate as a group and the food was superb! Cannot recommend it enough. Memories made, thank you Vaughan and our lovely group.
We had a really great time with Mawande our guide who was professional, friendly and organised the tour really well for us. He made adjustments to the schedule to suit our needs which we appreciated. The safari itself is more of a “soft” safari which we knew going into the experience. The animals are predictable since they live in the reserve but they’re nonetheless amazing to see. The lodge itself is beautiful and the staff have thought of everything to make the safari great by providing ponchos and hot water bottles. We really enjoyed the Betty’s bay stop since we could see the penguins without the crowds.
