Spectacular hike, suitable for almost everyone

My wife and I booked an almost identical tour with Marrakech Day Trips and highly recommend the hike. Our guide, Zakaria, is local, and kept everyone safe and the hike moving at just the right pace. He is very knowledgeable. The scenery is spectacular, especially in early May, with lots of wildflowers. We had warm sunny days and chilly nights. We saw plenty of Berber locals in traditional clothing. The group of 9 was friendly. Our accommodations at Imnane were better than expected, with a comfortable king bed, wifi, hot shower, and private bathroom. They were rustic. Food was good, and vegetarians were accommodated. Bring clothing layers, shoes with good soles, a rain jacket/windbreaker, and wool or synthetic socks that are comfortable even if they get wet. Everyone with reasonable fitness can enjoy this hike, but it is a real hike. We reached a little over 7700 feet maximum, walked about 6 miles daily, and gained about 2,100 feet the first day and 1,200 feet the second day. There were some loose soil areas, but nothing technically difficult. This was a highlight of our trip to Morocco.

"An Unforgettable Day at Ouzoud

The driver was really polite, the trip was terrific, and the guide was very informative. The monkeys were amazing, but be careful—they are truly wild! Even though the boat cost 20 DRH, the waterfalls were amazing, and the lunch at 100 DRH was delicious and had a breathtaking view, making the experience well worth it.

Great Hike and Experience

The hiking was the perfect amount of work. Not too hard and not too difficult. Our guide, Hussaen, was amazing. He took us at a great pace and also stopped to give us a lot of information about the villages and Berber lifestyle. At our overnight stay, we had some great food and views of the Atlas Mountains and night sky. My friends and I all had such a great time.

The most incredible experience

The most incredible experience in the Atlas Mountains! We did a 2 day 1 night tour with Mohammed - he was so knowledgeable and always made sure we were happy, we had a chef that cooked the most amazing local meals and a mule to carry our bags. We trekked about 10k per day (bring hiking boots) and stayed in a lovely guest house in a local Berber village half way through the round loop trek. All in all an amazing experience - thank you Mohammed. Food was always and plenty and delicious!

AMAZING!

Amazing experience from start to finish, our guide Omar Emzilen was fantastic. Keeping a good pace throughout the ascent and giving plenty of information while leaving sections of the hike for us to enjoy Toubkal Park in silence and take in the beauty. Omar also speaks English and French, the food that was prepared was excellent and served by Omar himself. The rooms as the base camp were more than comfortable. I highly recommend this for anyone interested in hiking Toubkal!

Valley trek

Omar Emzilen is a great guide who knows the Atlas Mountains and the berber villages very well. Not only does he lead the way, but he also provides information about the area and cooks excellently. Apart from leading, he is also a great guy in general who makes sure you have everything you need. He speaks English, French, Morocc and Berber. Highly recommended!

Must-do trek with Omar Emzilen

Wow, what an amazing adventure, with the best guide ever - Omar Emzilen. This is a must-do if you are visiting Marrakech, and if you are lucky you will have Omar Emzilen as your guide. Omar was an absolutely wonderful guide who made our trek really special. Omar knew so much about Marrakech and Berber culture, and taught us all about history and traditions. We have come away feeling much more educated. Omar was so kind and helpful and would always make sure that we were comfortable and happy. His English was fantastic too! He took heaps of photos of us so that we have come away with such lovely souvenirs of the trip. The trek itself was stunning, such beautiful landscape with huge mountains, lush valleys, and many different Berber villages so that you really could see what life is like here. The walk is not hard at all and Omar knew the best way to travel so we always felt safe on the paths. The meals cooked by our cook, Mohamed, were the best food that we have had in Morocco. Overall I would highly recommend doing this trip, and hopefully you are lucky enough to get Omar as your guide and Mohamed as your cook!

A hike through Real Berber Villages in the Atlas Mountains - Highly Recommend!

This was an awesome Trek through the Atlas Mountains! Our guides were patient and kind, and made sure we had everything we needed! The food was fantastic traditional, authentic, and always served with hot Moroccan tea. We visited the Berber villages and met some of the kids and it was an experience we will never forget. The hiking itself was moderate difficulty with some advanced sections and averages about 10-12km a day. We would recommend packing very warm clothes (hats, mitts, warm socks, coat) if you're going in the winter season as we did. Also, bringing your own snacks never hurts! We would highly recommend this trek to anyone who is looking for some solid activity, amazing food, authentic Berber experience, and fantastic genuine guides! Thank you, Larbi, Jamal, and Jacqueline (pack mule)

Don’t miss this mountain trip!!

These folks do it right! Courteous, kind, patient, knowledgeable, safe and delightful company. Our trek was about 22 miles, leaving from Imlil. The trails are rugged and mostly unmaintained. There was some road travel on quiet mountain roads. Stunning views the entire time. Excellently prepared fresh meals. I was traveling with friends and now plan to bring my whole family next year. I am an experienced trekker and found this route to be similar to hikes in the Eastern Sierra being hot dry and steep at times. Loose stones, sand and broken rocks on the path made some descents challenging. Two easy river crossings. Tips: trekking poles would be helpful for many. Bring your own snacks/bars etc. if you need to nibble along the way (we found the meals sufficient and the heat takes way much of the appetite. Locally purchased olives and dates travel well). Absolutely take electrolytes if traveling in hot months. I have tremendous gratitude for our guides who worked long hot rugged days during Ramadan!! Blessings to you Abdul, Mohamed, and Hakim.

Utterly Amazing

Abdul was the most amazing, attentive and good-natured guide and our donkey drivers/cooks other Abdul and Mohammed were fabulous! We ate like queens even stopped at the top of a pass in the middle of nowhere. We thought we were going on an 18 kilometer hike over two days but it was actually 22+ miles!! We (six women friends aged 34-72) went from Imlil to Tachedirt and back (different route on return ending at a village below Imlil along the river),staying in a very lovely and comfortable guest house at the very tippy top of Tachedirt which is allegedly the highest village in the High Atlas. Some of the terrain is grueling- especially the final 3 mile descent over rocks and scree. Our wonderful Abdul’s and Mohammed did the entire trip during Ramadan which means that during the days when we were hiking up and down in very warm weather they had neither food nor water. An extraordinary experience highly recommended. Just be sure your body is up to the challenge.
