12-Day Vietnam Highlights Travel from Hanoi

Our trip to Vietnam for our 40th wedding anniversary was memorable. Amy and her team planned our stay for 13 days with great hotels transportation and great tour guides for the North, Central and South of Vietnam. Like the previous trips with the agency, it was also very well organized and well thought out. The quality and choice of hotels left nothing to be desired. In particular, the equipment of the boat in Halong Bay surprised us very positively. We were 2 couples on a private tour that Amy Jian from TravelChinaGuide looked after perfectly in the usual way. We will certainly fall back on it again in our next trips to Asia.

We booked our Vietnam tour several months in advance, and worked exclusively with Amy Jian as our travel consultant. Amy was fantastic to work with and was quite thorough in addressing any questions or concerns we had. Since we had never been to Asia, we asked a lot of what I'm sure were minor questions, but Amy was always prompt and thorough in responding, and seemed as though she truly cared that we had the best experience possible. The hotels she selected and guides she assigned to our time in each city were fantastic, and helped make this a truly unforgettable experience. We've travelled extensively in Europe, Australia and North America, and have never before used a service or guided trip, but if we had not booked with Amy and her company, I'm certain we would not have seen and done half of what we were able to do on this tour.

I'd never previously been to a country where I knew none of the language and could not even read the script. Nor to a place with such strict visa regulations. But Travel China Guide Tours guided me through the whole process, not only of satisfying the entry requirements but also of the exact itinerary. Amy Jian was endlessly patient, unfailingly helpful and quick to reply not only before take-off but also throughout the trip, emailing any slight adjustment and modification along the way (of which there were very few). If I go to China again (and I plan to, before the visa expires) Amy will be the first person I consult.

Fantastic holiday. So many things to see and do. We went to Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Halong Bay, Dong Hoi, Hue, Hoian and HCMC and would repeat the exact same holiday again without exception. Agate Travel (Amy) were brilliant every step of the way.

Trip of a lifetime! Travel China Guide worked with me to create an excellent itinerary, booked great hotels, and connected us with wonderful guides. TCG took feedback in real time and made adjustments for the group (for example, my 81 yo mother was having difficulty walking and climbing and TCG worked with the guides to make modifications that really made the trip more enjoyable for her). Our tour went the length of Vietnam and also included Siem Reap in Cambodia. It was a whirlwind trip, but there is not a single thing I would change. This is my second time working with TCG (first time was in China in 2017, also with a family group). The company is reliable and excellent to work with.

This review is for 18 day Vietnam/ Thailand trip with Agate travel. We went with this travel agency because of the reviews, and reasonable pricing. It was a private tour, so we ended up doing some changes in the itinerary (Hanoi/Halong Bay/Hoi An/Ho Chi Minh City/Bangkok/Chiang Mai/Phuket). Overall, communication with the company was timely, and they were very responsive. The itinerary offers a variety of experiences and covers the highlights of the area. The drivers were excellent throughout, but the guides were a mixed bag. The best guide we had was in Hanoi, Mr Xuan, who said his name meant spring. He was in a class by himself, knowledgeable, kind and really caring. The rest were ok but did not reach to Mr. Xuan’s level. Given that English is not their language, I should be more charitable, but when it’s so hard to understand what is being said, it does distract from the experience. The hotels were well chosen, and in populous locations with lots of eateries around. The flights were as advertised in the itinerary. The included meals were acceptable and in varied settings. Finally, if you are from a country other than USA, make sure you are quoted in US dollars to avoid fluctuating rates of the home currency

The hotels they booked were spot-on, the guides were affable and knowledgeable, the transportation was luxurious and the activities and experiences were unforgettable.
