The sweet-spot months
October to April brings warm, sunny days and pleasant evenings — the prime time to visit Muscat for sightseeing, wadis, deserts and the coast.
Cool season (Oct–Apr)
Warm and dry with comfortable temperatures, ideal for everything from the Grand Mosque to desert camps; the peak season.
Summer (May–Sep)
Very hot and humid, especially midday; best for early starts, the cooler Jebel Akhdar mountains and indoor sights.
Jebel Akhdar
The “Green Mountain” is cooler year-round and at its loveliest in spring when the famous Damask roses bloom (around March–April).
Diving & snorkelling
The Daymaniyat Islands are best from roughly September to May; some boat trips pause in the off-season.

Visit the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in the morning (not Fridays); dress modestly, with women covering hair, arms and legs.
Omani rial
Oman uses the rial (a strong currency); carry some cash for souqs and small vendors, though cards are widely accepted.
Wadi Shab tips
Wadi Shab needs a short boat across, a 45-minute walk and swimming to the waterfall cave, so wear shoes you can swim in and bring a dry bag.
Beat the heat
Outside the cool season, start early and carry plenty of water; midday sun and humidity can be intense.
