Daytrip from Hurghada to Cairo

Last month I took a day trip with Memphis tours from Hurgada to Cairo. From the pick up at the hotel and transport to the airport at Hurhada, to the pickup at Cairo and the trip back, everything went flawless. I met my very friendly tour leader Omar at the airport together with our driver and we had an authentic Egyptian breakfast on the way to meet my tour Guide Marwa Ghazal. Marwa was very passionate about the history and culture and most important for me, she was very knowledgeable on the subjects. We toured among others the Giza plateau, Coptic Cairo and the Egyptian Museum. We also did some shopping for authentic souvenir's and papyrus. The local cuisine was very tasty. I learnt a lot that day about (ancient) Egypt and all thanks to Marwa. Both Marwa and Omar took very good care of me during my stay in Cairo. I highly recommend this trip and I definitely want to return for additional tours and a longer stay. Hopefully this will be very soon. Shukran to both Marwa and Omar for the unforgettable experience!

Hurghada-Cairo with Nice tours and guide Mustafa 🥰🥰

I have a wonderful experience visiting the Pyramids, Giza and the original place where the papirus made as also the oriental oils .. Our guide Mustafa knows everything around history and the town..a kind and funny man , definitely make the tour special. After a nice meal with view of Pyramids, we visit the Egyptian museum and our tour finished with a boat trip to Neill River. I m grateful to make this trip and choose Nice tours, we were a small group of 6 persons and we had a new Mini bus with Klima and very good and friendly drivers 😀 I Definitely recommend!!

Deeply disappointed, never again!

I would like to write something positive about this, but unfortunately I was extremely disappointed. After booking and receiving confirmation of a pick-up, I went to the pick-up point at the agreed time, But nobody came, after several calls back and forth I was assured that the bus was already on its way. Without any information about the course of events and a lack of participation, I was left disappointed at the hotel. It wasn't something I thought up, it just happened. 75€ wasted. If you have any questions, I'm of course available.

„This is not included, but it is important.“

More of a sales experience than a cultural/ historical one. Been moved from one sales pitch to the next.

Good but not great

Of all the experiences I was booked on, this was the one I was most excited about but unfortunately it did not live up to that excitement. In total the experience lasted 25 hours. It wasn’t very well organised, there was a lot of waiting around which ate into the time we were supposed to have at each place. The museum was the first stop and we started off by waiting outside for half an hour while they tried to get tickets, when we did get inside we then had to stand for nearly another half an hour while our guide explained the history of Egypt and why upper and lower Egypt are upside down on the map, he then proceeded to start an argument with another guide who had two people and were in the area before he took us over there. Then he started his whole explanation again. We did eventually move on but it was very rushed. In the whole museum we saw 6 exhibits while listening to the guide yes explain some of what we were looking at but also explaining his own personal political views. There is no air con in the museum so the air you get is when you move, due to the extended periods of time stood in one place I actually passed out. When we were moving even slowly, I was fine. Twice we were told lunch was next before we stopped to do something else, great stops, don’t get me wrong but when you’ve already been on the go for 13 hours you need lunch and a cold drink. I specifically asked if there was an option of going inside the pyramids and was told yes and quoted a price yet when we got there, it was not an option. We also only got a quick walk round to see the sphinx at a distance. Overall, it was amazing to see the things we saw but despite lasting 25 hours, the whole day was very rushed and disorganised. I wouldn’t do this experience again or if I did I would be with a different company. A shame because the guide was actually lovely and very knowledgeable but didn’t seem to understand tourists and time certainly doesn’t mean a whole lot.

The trip was a complete failure

This trip was the absolute disaster. The sellers of MTS Tours on the beach, sell you the trip very skillfully. They promise you'll be there in six hours. So you think it's a total of 12 hours of driving. In reality we were picked up at 02:15 and we were back on 01:15. That means trip duration 23 h. Of which: -1.5 hours at the museum (this was very exciting) -about 1 hour lunch (the food was a typical touri eating and did not please me) -45 minutes of looking at pyramids and taking photos (this was very impressive) -about 30 minutes to watch Sphinx (this was also impressive) -45 minutes into a perfume shop (MTS was certainly paid for us to dump Touris there) -Remaining time of 18.5 hours bus ride (this was absolute hell) For some beautiful photos of the sphinx, pyramids and museum where we stayed for a total of 3 hours, we had to take a bus ride of 18.5 hours. The tour is deliberately sold to you with wrong travel times. Otherwise nobody would do this tour. Unfortunately, I can not recommend the trip at all and do not understand why anyone can rate this trip positively. Greetings

Tour with surprises

The one-day tour from Hurghada to Cairo started at 1.30 a.m. with an 8.5-hour bus tour (which includes about 2.5 hours of hotels rattling off, filling up, waiting for the convoy). After arriving in Cairo (about 9 a.m.), the fellow passengers and we were divided into different buses according to our language. The first port of call was the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. In a rather informative 1-hour tour we were guided through the museum. After that we continued (30 min bus ride). We had actually booked a bus tour in Cairo, which our guide changed for us unplanned to a "small Nile boat trip", for 10 € / person extra. Highlights were the view of Mubarak and Nasr's houses and some replica Pharaoh party boats. Strengthened by an acceptable lunch menu (12:00 to 12:45 p.m.), the subsequent visit to a papyrus museum with integrated sales event was still tolerable. With the newly acquired knowledge of how to distinguish "fake" from "real" papyrus and the newly acquired papyrus image (gentle printing of our children), now came the highlight of our trip: the visit to the pyramids. After dramatic explanations from our tour guides (why, why and why a camel trip is inevitable) as well as another unplanned 10 € / person for the just mentioned short camel trip to the viewpoint (otherwise we would have had to wait in the sun) we were able to (finally) take some nice photos of and with the pyramids (some tips - we were told that everything under 10 € was unacceptable - the guides expected again, of course, as the photographing was not included in the total of 40 € for our family in your opinion). A short walk and a quick visit to the Sphinx later (4.15pm) part of our group (return trip to Hurghada via plane) was prepared for the final highlight, visiting a perfume museum with another sales event, while we waited for our bus to return. Arrival at the hotel was then about 11 pm. Conclusion: A strenuous (especially with children) but eventful trip, which had a bitter and expensive aftertaste mainly because of the "business ability" of the tour guide. Above all disappointing that some program items were not included in the price and had to be paid again - especially since it was difficult not to go through with them, otherwise you had to kill time in the minibus - and that with two children!

Absolute rip-off; uncomfortable van journey and rushes from the main paid for sightseeing

Morning Journey: We were picked up from our hotel in a little local van which had seen better days (max 12-14 people) but thought it’s only the local pick-up... how wrong we were. The drivers did not speak more than. Couple words of English and basically ignored us from the start, we picked up two more groups (both German) so was a quiet journey. We soon realised that we weren’t being driven to a air-conditioned coach as expected for the main journey - but were doing the 6 hour ride in this tiny old mini-van which was cramped and uncomfortable. We stopped once for a rest on route - the drivers just parked up and opened the door, didn’t speak to us or tell us how long we were stopping for or anything and just walked off. Worst road trip I’ve ever had.. Itinerary: The day wasn’t as advertised at all, we were taken straight to the Egyptian museum and then met with a tour guide - a German tour guide. We joined an other mini-van full of Germans and were taken around the museum for 30mins. Mostly we were listening to German with brief English paraphrasing thrown in for just us (only 2 English in group of 14), we were very disappointed. We then had 30 mins free time - that is not enough for this huge museum! We were rushed out so that we could take part in a additional charge activity- a nice cruise. We tried to decline as were not interested but were pressured into going along @ 200 LE each (£20 for both). It was a short boat ride seeing some buildings along the Nile and hearing both German and Italian tour guides speaking to groups. On this trip there were 2 other English with their own tour guide and we were moved to them to save our tour guide keep repeating himself. I would have preferred more time in the museum to explore. We then went to lunch in a restaurant in Giza (not the Nile as advertised) which was fine. Then we went to the Pyramids! Finally the main point of our visit to Egypt! When we arrived we were taken straight to the far point which we had been told would give us an amazing view of all three pyramids and the Sphinx in one photo. Turns out his amazing photo is only available if you pay extra (again) and go on a canal or horse cart - the way these animals looked/ were treated was a huge red flag and we refused - that’s a whole other story. Because we didn’t want the rides were wee given 30 mins free time. Considering the size of the site this only got us two one and took some photos. We were then driven back down the the largest so we could climb the steps and get some photos (15mins) and then taken to the small free entry pyramid for a quick look inside (15 mins), then it was back to the mini-van for a drive to the Sphinx - we got out the van at the roadside and took photos (5mins) and then were hustled off again. The main attraction and were weren’t there much more that 70 mins. We were being taken to an extra destination- an old family cafe for drinks/ toilet etc (extra charges again - getting the picture) but his time the whole group had had enough and said no thanks - we would like to leave. So the drivers.... walked off! Yep they went in anyway and left us in the van for 30 mins without talking to us or explaining anything - again. Return journey: Then it was the looong and rickety journey home - the vans door was having issues and was making god awful screeching noises which meant no one could sleep or relax, and we had to keep stopping for them to hit it with a rock and slam it shut again and again. We stopped for a toilet break after 4 hours driving at a cafe and again the drivers just left us and didn’t say what they were doing/ how long we’d be here... Tour guide: Was friendly enough but we felt like an unwanted extra to the German party - several times he would give instructions and details to the party in German and then start walking off so I had to ask - what did you say? Then would get a couple of words - oh we are going there.. not what he had been saying to the rest in more details. Do not recommend! We also did a day trip (Luxor) via the Thomson rep and that was 100% better value and more comfortable - The guide was also giving us tips and pointers and ensuring we had toilet and drink breaks and kept us fully in the loop... Very disappointed as this was our main reason for choosing Egypt and we didn’t get to stay at the sights we paid for as they wanted to take us to other places and pay more.

good excursion

Aside from the endless journey on more than crowded buses where you can't even breathe it was a beautiful day...
