Cairo can be charming

Our guide Osama and driver picked us up from the hotel and drove us to the Old city gate. We spent the next 2 hours walking through a fascinating area of mosques, madrassas and old Ottoman architecture. It was mostly a pedestrian street, mostly locals going about their business. The shopping streets were enjoyable but eventually souvenirs all look the same. By the end, the duration was only half of the 5 hours that the tour advertised. Osama graciously offered to take us to tour the Citadel. This was a very worthwhile historical site with a good view of the city. The extra tour helped meet our expectations. Just make sure your guide provides what is advertised.
