Description

Explore Phlegraean Fields few kilometers north of Naples on this unique full day tour.  Here art, history, architecture and nature are merged together. The area was known since ancient times when Greeks establish a colony at Cuma, the seat of the Cumae Sibyl. Visit the Flavian Amphitheatre of Pozzuoli, the third-largest Italian amphitheatre after the Colosseum and the Capuan Amphitheatre. Have a walk in the Acropolis of Cuma, one of the oldest greek acropolis in the world.  Discover the Castle and the ruins of Baia built by Alfonso II of Aragon in XV century on the remains of a Roman villa. Take a photo of the stunning panorama from the terrace of the castle.  Moreover, visit the famous Piscina Mirabilis and more.

An unforgettable experience!

A highlight of our stay in Naples. Francesco, our driver, and Anna Lisa, our guide have given us a wonderful day. The organization was impeccable, from pickup in the morning to goodbye in the afternoon. We have gathered many new impressions and information. All our questions have been answered in detail. It was really worth it!

Gennaro Gave Us a Wonderful Tour

Our guide, Gennaro, lives in the same area as Baia area and his love for the area, and his thorough knowledge of the geology, history, and archaeology of the Cuma, Baia, and Phlegrean Fields area showed through his presentation and tour.

phlegrean fields

The acropolis at cuma was closed as was the flavian amphitheater at pozzuoli, so two of the three items we wished to see were not available. The primary reason we booked the tour was to see the acropolis at cuma, and were bitterly dissapointed. The driver and tour guide were very good and we spent more time at Baia,

Lotte known sites - Fantastic experience

This tour was the highlight of my vacation. The visited sites are beautiful and significant (the first Greek colony on Italian land (Cuma), a medieval castle built by Spanish conquerors, an ancient Roman bath complex (Baia), and the world’s third largest and impressively preserved amphitheater (Pozzuoli), built by the same emperor who had built the Colosseum in Rome. To be honest, I had never heard of any of these locations before my stay in Italy. And vacationing in Naples, the question arose whether more ruins are necessarily a “must-see”, after I had already visited Pompeii and Herculaneum. The answer to this question turned out to be a resounding “yes”. That Baia, Cuma, and Pozzuoli are very little known, means they are not overrun by tourists - despite their beauty. I had a private tour with guide Daniela, who really made all these ancient sites and remains from so many periods come alive. Because there was very little traffic on the streets, she even offered to take me to an additional site - an excavated Roman market place in Pozzuoli. And finally - another addition to the regular tour - we walked up to a viewing point looking over a gigantic crater of the supervulcano of the Phlegrean Fields. All in all, I had a wonderful day. Thanks Daniela! I highly recommend this tour.
