If I could would give this a minus 4, not minus 5 as the driver did a great job. Paid $505, then we were ambushed with a $800 taxi fee and $225 guide fee. Never agreed to this. The guide was rude, unpleasant, and barely able to speak English. Viator supervisor said $505 was a management fee ??? Settled paying about $400, what was a 7 hour tour really was 3 hours and cost about $900 total. O, the guide had her lunch bill added ours. O, we stood in line for 30 minutes for lunch, and the restaurant had only one, yes 1 item on their menu. Wife didn't like it. Just awful experience.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that parts of your experience did not meet your expectations. We would like to clarify that the transportation cost is clearly stated in the tour description as an additional expense. This information is provided prior to booking to ensure full transparency, and many of our guests review and acknowledge these details before confirming their reservation. However, we are very concerned about your mention of a $225 guide fee. This is not a standard or authorized charge within our pricing structure. Neither our company nor the assigned guide requested or collected such a fee. We respectfully ask for more detailed information regarding this claim — specifically, who requested this payment, when it was requested, and how it was paid. We take this matter very seriously and would appreciate any supporting details or documentation so we can investigate thoroughly. Regarding lunch, the guide selected a well-known restaurant in Asakusa that is highly regarded for its quality. In Japan, it is quite common to wait in line at popular restaurants, as many reputable establishments do not take reservations and focus on maintaining high standards rather than quick turnover. A 30-minute wait is generally considered normal at sought-after dining spots. The restaurant specializes in a single signature dish, offered in three different portion sizes of meat. Many traditional Japanese restaurants focus on perfecting one specialty rather than offering an extensive menu, which is part of the local culinary culture. The guide’s intention was to provide an authentic and well-regarded dining experience.
Toshi met us at our hotel and asked about the places we had already visited. He was very flexible with our suggestions, showing us unique spots and quiet streets away from the main tourist areas. It felt like a private, personalized adventure. Highly recommend!
I would recommend this tour for anyone new to Tokyo who wants assistance getting between the different attractions. Kushimizu was friendly and knowledgeable, and provided helpful guidance throughout the day. However, her English was somewhat limited, which made the 8 hour tour feel a little long at times. Overall, it was still a useful and informative experience.
Ami was our best guide we hired in Japan. She was very knowledgeable about all the places we visited and helped us better understand many aspects of Tokyo and Japanese culture. She took us through Asakusa, Sensoji Temple, Ginza, and the Imperial Palace gardens, sharing fascinating history and unique anecdotes along the way. We also ended with her personal recommendation for a local snack, which was delicious and memorable.
Satoko was experienced and fun, using her deep knowledge of Tokyo to guide us through the ins and outs of the city. We visited iconic spots like Asakusa Sensoji, Meiji shrine, and Shibuya crossing, and she shared great insights into local culture. We are thankful for her time and would definitely recommend her tours
This Tokyo tour was an exciting and well-rounded way to explore the city’s energy and diversity. The guide provided interesting insights that made both the bustling streets and hidden corners come alive. It was a fun, engaging, and memorable experience from start to finish.
Thank you for sharing your experience. We are delighted that your Tokyo tour was enjoyable and memorable, and that the guide helped you discover both the highlights and the hidden corners of the city.
This was our first private tour in Japan and was just the perfect way to see Tokyo's highlights efficiently in one day. Our guide, Toishi was incredibly knowledgeable and flexible, customizing the itinerary perfectly to see the Akihabara district and the Skytree, beside Shibuya and Asakosa Temple. The Odon place was also very authentic and delicious. Great tour and highly recommended
Thank you for choosing us for your first private tour in Japan! We are thrilled to hear that Toishi provided a perfect, flexible day seeing Tokyo's highlights. Your kind recommendation means everything to us.
