Itinerary
We’ll start by walking through the iconic central path. While crowded, it’s a classic Tokyo experience. At Ueno Toshogu Shrine, you’ll witness a unique contrast: golden Edo-period architecture surrounded by Sakura and lively food stalls. It’s a festival-like atmosphere where history meets local street food culture!
Traditional Wagashi Break: Leaving the crowds behind, we visit a charming local confectionery. Here, you can admire beautiful seasonal sweets or enjoy a bowl of Matcha with a Sakura-flavored treat—a perfect moment to appreciate "setsuna" (the fleeting beauty) of the season.
The Quiet Path to Kaneiji Temple: We enter the serene grounds of Kaneiji, a temple with deep ties to the Tokugawa Shogunate. This area offers a peaceful escape from the park's hustle, where Sakura petals fall on historic stones.
Yanaka Reien: The Last Shogun’s Sakura We finish at the Yanaka Cemetery, famous for its breathtaking "Sakura Tunnel." From a distance, we’ll visit the final resting place of Yoshinobu Tokugawa, the last Shogun. It is a contemplative place where nature and history rest together.
Shinobazu Pond & Seasonal Flavors If you still have energy, we’ll stroll around Shinobazu Pond to see the cherry blossoms reflecting on the water. Here, we can visit a historic dessert shop for Sakura-flavored ice cream or a traditional "Sekihan" (red rice) bento—a perfect way to taste the season!

Itsuko was an amazing guide who was focused on giving us the best experience we could have on our first day in Tokyo. She contacted us prior to the experience asking us what our interests and expectations were for our tour. She took that information and provided us with a couple of options and then took us on an adventure that included some very popular sites as well as some out of the way locations that really allowed us to see Tokyo at is best. She checked in throughout the day and was especially focused on teaching us local customs that helped us throughout the rest of our stay.

We had the best time with Itsuko! She had done careful planning and custom made little pamphlets for us. She selected some excellent and interesting locations that also kept us out of the heat. She was especially good with my son. Definitely recommend
Hello Jessica, Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review :) I'm really glad if you enjoyed exploring Tokyo ;) Could your son collect some more stamps since then? X) I hope that all your and your son's days are filled with smiles and happiness :D
Regrettably my partner torn his knee and was unable to do any stairs or much walking. Which is not the best for a walking tour. However the guide was really kind offered a suggestion near to our hotel but could not supply a refund due to such short notice. Our tour guide was very prompt with messages etc and I would recommend to others.
Thank you for writing a review. I’m sorry I couldn’t suggest or make a good course for you. Even though tourists can walk around the Ueno district, some facilities have stairs and it’s not a flat place because it used to be a hill, therefore I write about stairs in facilities in ‘Additional Info’. There’s the cancellation policy on the booking site. I tried to do my best for you though you didn’t mind no refund. If we had had enough time to discuss your tour, I might’ve been able to take you somewhere… I’m really sorry about that.
So unique and wonderful experience with Itsuko. Personalized but she has lots of unique recommendations. We really enjoyed this experience with her-real local in Tokyo 😊

Easily one of the best tours you can find in Tokyo. Issy was incredible in tailoring a tour that appealed to our interests with the end result amazing. Admire greatly the effort she took before and after to make sure our Tokyo experience would be unforgettable. Highly recommend.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review! I'm delighted you and your family had a memorable holiday in Tokyo. There are many fascinating places to visit in Japan, so please come back for more adventures :)
Itsuko-san was very friendly and knowledgeable about the different places we visited. I had an amazing time touring through temples and shrines and learning the proper way to worship. This was my first time visiting Japan, and I'm very glad to have chosen this tour. Itsuko-san was also really helpful when it comes to navigating public transport. She made it easier to understand for an inexperienced person, like myself. I highly recommend this tour!
