Great experience! Learned a lot about making sushi! Would recommend to anyone!
A great night, warm and wonderful hosts. The food quality was outstanding, we learned a lot and had a fabulous time
We had the opportunity to enjoy a sushi-making experience with our family and friends, and it was truly a wonderful time. Everything was very smooth from start to finish, and the communication was both thoughtful and warm, making it easy for us to feel comfortable and connected throughout the experience. Akemi’s personality was incredibly charming, and we sincerely hope to see her again. We would highly recommend this experience to anyone.
This was truly a special, delicious, and educational sushi experience. The workshop is held at Akemi’s Sushi Kitchen in her private home. Akemi-san’s husband was also there, and he was very kind and welcoming. We began with a beautiful Japanese welcome drink, and Akemi-san explained Edomae sushi, a traditional Tokyo style, in a very clear and easy-to-understand way. Before using real fish, we first practised shaping sushi with a small handmade cloth model, which I thought was a very thoughtful idea. Then we filleted the fish, sliced it carefully, grated fresh wasabi, and finally made our own inari sushi, gunkan-maki, maki rolls, and nigiri. I was especially impressed by Akemi-san’s attention to the ingredients. You can truly feel how much care she puts into every detail. If you are looking for a small, local cooking experience in a real Japanese home and would like to learn authentic sushi-making that you can recreate at home, taught by a professionally trained sushi instructor, I sincerely recommend this experience.

Akemi and Dan are such a lovely couple, and thanks to their hospitality and friendly vibe, I felt relaxed the whole time. The ingredients were super high-quality, and I was amazed that we got to make and eat real Edomae-style sushi. I also made friends in the class, which made the experience even more fun and opened up my world a bit. If you want to experience Japan, not just visit it, I totally recommend this class.
Wow!! What a great experience!! Not only learning hands on preparation, also learned some history, accessing ingredients, about purchase cooking utensils and the choices of sake! Our hosts were sooo very patient, friendly and knowledgeable. A definite must do if you like to eat sushi!!
We had the pleasure to book a cooking class with Akemi and Dan for our family vacation. This was hands down the highlight of our trip to Tokyo. Both Akemi and Dan were warm, helpful, and knowledgeable throughout our lesson. To be sure the sushi was exceptional ( I am a total sushi foodie) but thier engagement with our family is what made the experience truly world class. We ended up eating a ton of sushi along with great memories.
We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your lesson with us! Thank you so much for coming!
Akemi was a fantastic sushi teacher We prepared with our own hands a great Japanese lunch at the home of Akemi and Dan who welcomed us with great cordiality. Truly a 5-star experience that I recommend to everyone.
Grazie! It was a pleasure to have you!
Akemi's Sushi Kitchen was the highlight of our trip! Akemi and Dan were so kind and welcoming. They seamlessly accommodated our salmon allergy. The session was a perfect blend of education and hands-on learning, with insightful explanations of Japanese sushi terms and techniques. We loved making tamago, fresh wasabi, and nigiri. We learned so much and how to eat nigiri properly, and we enjoyed getting to know them. Akemi provided clear instructions and lots of insight for any questions we had! Definitely a must-do when you're in Tokyo!
Thank you for your recommendation. I am glad that we could accommodate you. It was a pleasure to have you!
