The tour feeds you a lot of food so come hungry…don’t eat two meals before the tour. Wear comfortable shoes because you will do a lot of walking.
Excellent tour. I learned a lot of history of the area in addition to trying some great food. Helen was the perfect guide
Dionysius was very knowledgeable and educated re: Athens & ancient history. I most enjoyed our conversations as he cleared up many historical questions related to the sites & cultural areas we visited.
No earphones provided so couldn’t hear the guide despite being a group of 5 in total. The guide was a lovely person but most of the experience was awkward. Food was nice but to be honest nothing special or different, we would have easily found it ourselves!
We are sorry that we didn't meet your expectations. This tour is a walking tour that visitors taste street food in Athens in small private tours, no need for earphones for so small groups. As we cannot directly get in touch with you from here, please email us at info@urbanathenscollective.org and we will make sure to follow up on this issue. We are looking forward to your email. Thank you in advance. Have a great day
A bit pricey I thought but an enjoyable evening after a transatlantic flight. Good for our first evening when we were tired and didn’t want to figure out dinner plans. Ate any things we may not have tried otherwise. Got off the beaten track and away from tourists.
Helen was very informative. The good we sampled was great and gave a nice overview of Greece cuisine. We tried food we would not have ordered on our own and loved it!
We all typically fell in love with the Greek food once again...and this time learnt Hasapiko dance, too '')
Our tour guide Helen was less than enthusiastic about the food or the tour. She shared very little history or stories of any of the food we sampled. While the street food we sampled was good, it was a shame that she shared almost nothing about the cultural background of any of them, especially in a culture in which food plays such a big part like Greece. She was disengaged most of the time. On quite a few occasions, we saw her texting or doing something else on her phone during the tour. She simply didn't even want to be there! One of the worst food tours I've had traveling around the world.
Thank you for taking the time for reviewing us. We are sorry that we couldn't manage to meet your expectations. Eleni is an experienced guide and always does the best. She choose very carefully the places that you could have the best street food, has a very personal way to contact her guests, knows very well the out off the beaten track places of Athens and the history of the city. As she told us you discovered with her really secret corners of Athens and also took photos for you, explained you everything that you tasted and its history and also she changed the menu because as you told her you had already taste some of the food that is in the menu of the tour. She was very detailed about the street food and drinks you tasted, explaining the differences and the similarities with Balkan and Middle East culinary and the ancient history of some dishes and drinks. We hope to see you again in Athens and you are welcome to join us in another food experience.
Fantastic way to see Athens, meet locals and sample traditional food. Eleni my guide was interesting, informative and a delight to be with. Would thoroughly recommend this Tour.

Great tour through the flea market and trying some local traditional Greek dishes that tourists would not typically know about. Some of the restaurants that we ate at were for locals and it was nice to be able to see what the locals eat and how they dine. I highly recommend this tour.
