Rome Galleria Colonna

Description
From the very beginning, the Gallery was conceived as a large boardroom, which was to celebrate the victory of the Christian fleet over the Turks at the Battle of Lepanto in 1571. The commander of the Papal fleet, Marcantonio II Colonna, is depicted numerous times throughout the vault of the Great Hall of the Gallery and in the Room of the Battle Column. The Gallery includes works by Lorenzo Monaco, Domenico Ghirlandaio, Palma the Elder, Salviati, Bronzino, Tintoretto, Pietro da Cortona, Annibale Carracci (painting of The Beaneater), Guercino, Francesco Albani, Muziano and Guido Reni. Ceiling frescoes by Filippo Gherardi, Giovanni Coli, Sebastiano Ricci, and Giuseppe Bartolomeo Chiari celebrate the role of Marcantonio II Colonna in the battle of Lepanto (1571). Itinerary
A true jewel of the Roman Baroque, the Galleria Colonna was commissioned in the mid 1600s by Cardinal Girolamo I Colonna and his nephew Lorenzo Onofrio Colonna. It was inaugurated by Lorenzo Onofrio’s son, Philip II, in 1700. The original project is by the architect Antonio del Grande; it was then integrated by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, Paolo Schor and Carlo Fontana in the last decade of the 1600s.

Sorry to write a bad review but you have to let people know that booking through Tripadvisor we discovered on site that the ticket to enter, made at the ticket office costs almost half of what I spent, plus it was not included the visit to the oldest apartment in the building and we spent another € 10.00 per person. I understand the cost of the presale but not nearly double, and it was never clear until I got the tickets.
I had an outstanding tour on Friday April 17th. Rebecca Harden was our excellent guide. Having been on many tours of stately homes and palaces in England Europe and the US, it was a pleasure to have such a knowledgeable, charming and engaging guide. I would highly recommend this tour, it is definitely worth the ticket cost. I really enjoyed Rebecca’s interesting and witty commentary.
A beautiful hidden gem in Rome. Such spectacular art work. Not a super busy gallery I think because not a lot of people know about it. We went in low season (March) and it wasn’t over crowded. I would highly recommend coming here to anyone.
Well maintained building, helpful and very knowledgeable staff who accompanied us throughout the visit
There is no value add to this company. They buy bulk tickets for entry then resell them at a high markup. We added at the museum additional rooms at a much lower cost. I recommend going but not paying extra.
How absolutely magnificent a real historical treasure 👌 An unforgettable experience filled with incredible paintings a real dive into the past
A grateful surprise! It is worth visiting the gallery!!!! The staff is super attentive and cordial!!! Super recommend!!!!!!
Dreadful experience! Never received the actual tickets. Only was sent a voucher to redeem for the actual tickets, which as fine, only there were no clear instructions on where to redeem the actual tickets. I was leading a group of 5 family members - who were looking to me to organize the experience. It was made out that I would get the actual tickets from the ‘redemption point’ first - which was fine - but then no info on where the redemption point was. I incorrectly assumed then no information was an indication that it was at the Galleria entrance, or adjacent, but there was nowhere. I ended up paying 153 Euros for the Viator tickets, then another $75 Euros for the ‘actual’ tickets on the door. The Galleria was excellent and is a hidden gem, so go see it. Just purchase tickets on the door! It was mid July and it was quiet enough.
This tour was canceled by the tour operator. I booked through TripAdvisor and they told me to get with Viator directly to get a refund. The Viator app does not link to a tour that wasn’t booked with them and there is not a phone number to contact them. It shouldn’t be this difficult.
Excellent visit with amazing art. So glad we went as I think this is not to be missed. Not so crowded either. Can walk up and buy tickets - no need to buy in advance.
