Enter the Colosseum through the Gladiator’s Gate, the same entrance used by fighters almost 2,000 years ago. From here, you step directly onto the arena floor, the central stage where the games once took place. Standing here, facing the towering stands, you can imagine the roar of the ancient crowds. It’s a privileged viewpoint not open to all visitors.
The tour continues to the Palatine Hill, the legendary birthplace of Rome, where Romulus is said to have founded the city. Here you’ll see remains spanning from the Iron Age to the Renaissance. Highlights include: Hut of Romulus, a trace of early Rome. Imperial Palace, the monumental complex where emperors lived and ruled. From the Palatine Hill you’ll also enjoy some of the best panoramic views of Rome, overlooking both the Colosseum and the Roman Forum.

Paula was excellent, extremely knowledgeable, went out of her way to ensure a positive experience. Expert level.was a great tour, one item i would have expected was entrance tickets to the Colosseum in advance and not to have to wait on line (however while we waited, Paula gave us detailed history)
It doesn’t make sense that we don’t keep our skip the line tour and just don’t see the arena floor. Even though we were informed a few days early, it wasn’t clear that we’d spend an hour in line to get tickets because realistically our tour was cancelled.
